No risk of Rush comparisons with that song. No chance of me buying the album either but I'm glad he's creating again.

I checked it out because Alex was involved, but that doesn't equate to automatically liking it. There are projects MP has done that I passed on because the stuff wasn't for me. Big Elf, for example.

Like I mentioned, I got a Wisdom Of Crowds vibe from this. At the time that album came out I had no idea who Bruce Soord was and I only checked it out because Jonas sang on it. It was not what I was expecting, but the album blew me away. Just having the reminder forced me to look for that album on vinyl and I just so happened to find a copy.

I also am always on the lookout for female vocals and this also checks that box. I still want to hear some more samples and such but, so far, I'm intrigued.

I wish I liked it even 1/4 as much as Wisdom of Crowds.  I'll listen to the rest when it comes out and maybe it'll grow on me, but this first track seems a little bland and repetitive.  Which isn't to say Wisdom of Crowds isn't repetitive I guess, but it doesn't feel that way like this track did (to me).

I don't hate it and fully admit (to Stadler's point) that I certainly want to like new music by Alex Lifeson, and have already given it more time than I otherwise would have.

I had a good chat with Andy Curran today, who was Rush's A&R and is the bass player of Envy of None. He was actually at Rush's headquarters in Mississauga, and showed me the dryers they used on the Vapor Trails tour.

Enjoying the heck out of this album. Pretty much up there with Ty Tabor's solo album and Marillion's as well in top candidates for 2022 releases.

Likely would not have found out about it otherwise, but yes.  Most of the stuff Alex has done over the years sounds nothing like Rush.  For me it depends on where he is contributing his vision if I enjoy it or not.

I really question the ears of anyone who doesn't hear Lifeson. He's very audibly there and doing his thing. You know the dude exists outside the context of Geddy and Neil right?

I've listened to this album about 30 times (bonus instrumental disc less than that) and I think Alex is all over this record.  He's just not playing traditional guitar sounds.

Yeah, there's only that one song that's new if you have the deluxe edition. I'd pick it up on CD but that is not an option at the moment. Might consider the vinyl but it's not a high priority.
