Quote from: cramx3 on May 21, 2025, 01:23:01 PMNow that I actually looked, yeah the SW one is much better looking. The thing is, at least with AI (and this looks more like bad photoshop than AI) there's a large group of people who are against it being used for art. DT, IMO, has a legit chance of losing fans from it.  It's likely small, but it's not 0. Some people care more than others. I don't have an issue, personally, with people upset about any art released from the band at this point. It's become a bit controversial, beyond just DTF or even DT.

Personally, I wouldn't care if they were to use AI, what gives me the shits is the overall quality control issue here, something very simple to do in the grand scheme of things. As I said, I am not talking about the aesthetics of the poster, that's a choice. It's the execution that's bad. They should care, it does matter. I used the SW poster because of the age factor and it is well executed.

Also, this isn't an isolated incident. They have always had issues with quality control when it comes to their visual identity: Album cover issues (self titled album), Hugh Syme reusing a "design" that he used for another album, the reunion announcement "band photo" etc.

Quote from: Lonk on May 21, 2025, 01:31:41 PMThere have been several bands that the album cover is what got me to check them out, or an intriguing tour poster. These things are beyond announcing dates (if that was the case, it would just be a list of dates with no graphics), they're supposed to grab your attention.

Precisely. It's a hit or nothing. As members here, we're well acquainted with the band, but those that are casual fans or unfamiliar with the music would be the target here.

dualpalmpilots

I've had to find graphic designers for projects on short notice before, and it really is easy to get quality deliverables from freelancers. There are cheap, third party services dedicated to connecting clients and designers. All DT needs is one 30-something on their team. They don't even have to be good at socials or design, they just need to find the people or services who are.
Tower of ivory, house of gold? How could a woman be a tower of ivory or a house of gold?

Kram

Quote from: Lonk on May 21, 2025, 01:31:41 PMIt wouldn't be a DT announcement if the graphics are not discussed  :lol

My 2 cents (And I guess a response to Bill), a bad poster might not deter fans from buying tickets, but it can certainly deter possible new fans from even checking out the band.

I'd prefer this.  I don't need some cheesy stupid photo - I know what the band looks like.  Just give me the dates!

I don't know. I like the idea of a classy tour poster.

Quote from: pg1067 on May 21, 2025, 11:09:00 AMThe Terrace Theater is next to the Long Beach Arena.  I haven't been to a councert at LB Arena since 1991, but I've been to several theater shows.  Parking is quite simple.

How is the sound here? Any recommendations for best seats/sightlines? Haven't been to a show here so debating on what section/view might give the best experience for the price.

I know ticket prices are going up for everyone these days, but I'm still absolutely floored that the first 5 row are all $300 for a standard seat (not VIP or Platinum), and then drops to $185 starting in row 6. that is a huge jump between price tiers!

Debating between front of Loge for $98, or middle of Orchestra at either the $160 or $184 tier

Quote from: RaiseTheKnife on May 20, 2025, 09:49:16 PMSure, I dropped $$$ for the front row Oceanside tickets.  Also got the M&G VIP for this show, why not.

Oh, also nabbed front row for Long Beach.

Looking forward to some killer Parasomnia tracks.  Hoping for some rare gems too.  Wither needs more U.S. exposure.  And would be great for a nice ballad for the Mrs.

Also added front row for the Iowa show for good measure.  The wife likes to travel to new states and I like Dream Theater, so it all works out!

Quote from: Samsara on May 20, 2025, 09:38:55 AMYeah, the only Northern California appearance is Aftershock, which is absolutely stupid. Yeah, we got the DT40 show, which was cool, but I want to see the Parasomnia tour, and to have no non-festival dates within Northern California or even Northern Nevada is silly. Hoping a second leg will happen.

I saw that too.  Keep in mind that they often release tour dates with the list not being complete, and add in dates afterward as the bookings get finalized.  And there are 4 days off between the date in Colorado and the date in Sacramento, so there may be something that gets added.  I haven't asked management, so I don't know for sure.  But I would not be surprised if we get a date added.  They seemed to like the venue they played in Sac last time, and they sold it pretty well, so I would not be surprised if they booked it again if it was available and the cost worked.

Nice! this will be the first time I'm seeing DT in the front row. Only other time I've been front row is during general admissions for Steven Wilson in a small club and the Neal Morse Band a while back.
Devour Feculence!

My seats for October 7th. I could have gotten way closer, but everytime without fail I'm behind gigantic sasquatch motherfuckers, and can't see shit, so now I have a perfect view with no one in front of me. My wife will be going again and this time she can enjoy the show.

I for the life of me have no idea what show I should go to.  Providence, Schenectady, or Long Island are on the table.

I'd shoot for long island dude. Hometown at the Nassau Coliseum. They must have big plans for that show if they believe they can fill most those seats! Biggest venu they ever played a "evening with" show in the east coast in the US of A ever I believe!

HOF

I can't believe people care about a tour poster, but I like this one because it looks a lot like the layout of the band in the Images & Words booklet.

Yeah I can see why it matters to people that care about that side of things a lot. I respect that,

I on the other hand don't give a shit lol I'm just excited for the tour!

My google history for the past two days is 'directions to <insert each of the cities you mentioned>', 'hotels near <venue in each city>'  :rollin

There are no great options for me - Providence being the shortest commute, Long Island being the show I most want to attend.  I took my son to see 21 Pilots at the Nassau Coliseum about 6-7 years ago and the commute from Hartford was kind of a nightmare.

I'm hoping they announce more dates.

I'm just old and lazy enough not to want to drive from Raleigh to Charlotte on a weeknight lol

Yeah, this seems like RCMH 2.0 in a way.  The band trying to do something big for the final show "home". It's just a PITA to get to so I get why folks wouldn't immediately be interested.  Luckily it's a Saturday.  My gf showed some interest in attending last night when I told her about it.

At least you can avoid Manhattan if you drive  :lol

I might end up getting my ticket sooner than I though, just to try and get a good seat

True, Once I cross the Verrazano into Brooklyn, it's a nightmare.  My cousins live not too far away so we do the drive for Christmas eve.  Usually takes 2-3 hours to go 30 miles. But once traffic dies, when we come back late into the night, can do it in an hour or so.

I've only been to the Nassau Coliseum once for a concert, to see Def Leppard and Poison in 2017.

Skeever

It looks like both my preferred dates, Reading and Nassau, are our for different reasons. Might have to skip this tour, sadly.

I'm with Lonk dude... it's a longer drive for me but I'm so happy it's not in the city lol. I refuse to take the subway anymore... it's a cesspool of nasty. So driving my truck into the city is always an expensive parking situation. So I'd happy drive longer into Long Island.

Definitely try to grab a decent seat. Being in the back of Nassau Coliseum is not like being at the back of RCMH.

:lol  I didn't hate it up there honestly, but yeah, like any arena, the back is going to be worse view.  I didn't bring my camera to RCMH becuase I was worried about security, but I most certainly would bring it there and that helps me at least with seeing things from the back.

I'm not buying tickets yet though, there most certainly will be tickets available come closer to show time.  The up close floor seats were too expensive for me, so at that point, I'll find something cheap and just sit wherever.

Yeahh I expect these will be on sale for a while. I don't think DT are selling abt 10-13k seats any time soon. I want my boys to have the recognition they deserve, but I'm glad DT don't have the same issue bands like sleep token have during their tour launches lol. DT don't get hit toooo hard with the bots.

Stadler

I'm probably leaning to Nassau; I just did a quick check of my concerts and I don't think I've ever seen a show there. Surprising.

I'm also leaning to a later purchase, though we'll see.

This will also be my first actual concert there as well. I did see a couple WCW events there when I was a very young lad, long enough ago for this to feel like the first time lol

I feel like this doesn't belong in the Parasomnia tour wishlist thread because we know we're getting these songs; I am really excited to hear the whole album live. I know this is all subjective, but this collection of songs *feels* fun to me. It's the most fun I've had listening to a Dream Theater album in a long time.

I really would like to see them play with the intros/outros for a live setting. I know they basically are tape to stage in terms of music , but have some fun with the interstitial parts, could add to the live experience a ton.

If anything, "are we dreaming?" should be unbelievably weird and different

I still think that there's a lot about the album that hasn't been revealed yet, and it's all going to come out in the live show. I think it's a good album, but nothing about it makes me want to hear the entire thing played live front to back - and yet that's exactly what the band will be doing, and they said this even before the album was released. I just have a feeling that there will be some visuals and perhaps some extra musical bits that will give new meaning to the album.

Exactly!  Most of the times they've played Raleigh/Durham, it's been a weekend.  Not so when they hit Charlotte!

Also grabbed a ticket for the Providence show, Mezz-Right.  I think the price point and commute are keeping me away from the Nassau show, unfortunately.

The impossible is never out of reach

cramx3

Booked myself a cheap hotel room near Nassau Coliseum.  I could probably just do the drive back, but we will see.  I'd love to do another DTF meet up, both Philly and NYC were a blast recently. I'm not familiar with the area, but being an arena, I assume worst case we can all just tailgate in the lot.
