I held off on ordering the box set because I can't be sure the cover art isn't just AI slop. :lol

Will buy Six Degrees and Octavarium individually when those are available, same as I did for IAW, Awake, and SFAM. Let's be honest, I'll probably buy all DT's albums eventually, but it will be a slow trickle. Vinyl is not a cheap hobby. :yarr

See, I like to rip the bandaid off. It's an expensive bandaid, but I know I'll listen to all these albums.
Tower of ivory, house of gold? How could a woman be a tower of ivory or a house of gold?

Same lol. I´ll likely get Train of Thought as the first one though.

Does anyone know if a different set of masters was used for 1st box set?

The Vol 1 set and their individual titles put out by Rhino earlier this year used the same stampers from the Music on Vinyl masters from the 2010s. Those Music on Vinyl pressings were very difficult to find for many years without paying huge mark-up prices on the second-hand market. They were well received then and the new Rhino reissues still sound great despite not being new vinyl masters.

The Vol 2 set are brand new 2025 vinyl masters done through Sterling Sound.

Listening to six degrees now, this vinyl sounds fantastic. Crisp, and fat bass

Edit - I forgot how insane JM's bass playing is during the whole glass prison instrumental section!

I think SDOIT is the last really inspired Myung album. Everything he does on Blind Faith is awesome

It gets a bit overlooked, but Self Titled would be that for me. You can hear the bass so loudly and clearly, and he has some fantastic basslines on the record.

For instance, I love Parasomnia, but Myung barely does anything on that record other than follow Petrucci. His one shining moment is his duet with Rudess on The Shadow Man Incident.

Oh wow, it's actually out for delivery right now! How long until Father's Day?  :lol

Do you know the exact release date of this box set?

It was released on May 9.

Individual releases will probably be later this year, I hope.

It´s pretty crazy that Vol 3 is announced to be released this same year too. Would have expected them to leave it for 2026.

All I´m waiting for though, is those individual releases.

Wait, where/when was this announced?

The first two were released about seven months apart, so I'd think the third set would probably come out by December, about seven month after volume two.

Just listened to Octavarium. This pressing sounds so much better than the 2013 release! Sacrificed sons and Octavarium gave me goosebumps. The orchestrations sounded incredible on my setup. First time I sat and listened to that album so detailed in years. Love it more than ever.

Nice. Hope the individual releases sound as good.

Now that I think about, it´s possible Rhino could announce the individual Vol 2 vinyl releases as part of their Rocktober campaign. I hope that´s the case.

The individual Vol 1 vinyl releases were a part of their Start Your Ear Off Right campaign at the start of the year.
