Quote from: ganpondorodf on February 05, 2025, 01:52:27 PMExcited for the Raleigh show, though I'm unused to late nights anymore so I'm pre-emptively knackered at the thought of a 7.30pm start, lol. Still, high chance it's my last opportunity to see the band so I'm gonna bank a nap or two earlier in the day, if I can.

I've got the meetup location marked, but I think the DT Meet & Greet will start early and not allow time for both.

The preshows in Las Vegas and Reno end at 4:30 to give those who are going to the meet and greets time to get there.

Anyone have predictions on how much the North American leg will change from the fall UK/Europe tour? I'll be at the Philly opener, very excited to take my daughter who was raised on DT, and this will be her first time seeing Portnoy. But I honestly don't want to hear tons of the new album, especially if it's at the expense of tracks off I&W or Scenes. I realize they have to promote it, but it's still billed at the 40th anniversary tour. I probably shouldn't worry, but I do wonder.

direwhale

I NEED to see DT live but I have to wait till the 24th.

direwhale

And I REALLY want to see Nightmare to Remember and ACOS live.

Based on some recent MP comments it would seem the NA leg is going to be the same set as Europe/SA but he did say Midnight Messiah was going to be played and that they might rotate some older songs.  So maybe a song or two change? We will see.  I've got to imagine anything truly unique to this tour like 8VM or This is the Life isn't getting cut, but that's just my guess.

If you didn't get your chance in the recent tours to see these, you may be waiting some time. Also, just my guess.

Well, one can always hope...

Xaves

I hope they choose to swap the songs that I could care less about seeing with a more hype song, but a rotating setlist is always nice to hear.

Man if Octavarium or (especially) Stream of Consciousness get cut I am going to be so freaking sad, I've not seen either of those live and they might be my two favorite DT pieces

I won't get to the Meet & Greet, but I'll see the band after the show.

I'd be bummed too for that reason

So according to a capture from DT's last tour video there will be some song changes. Spoiler alert, people can go look on reddit.

Holy FUCK!  :eek  If that last one is true, I am going to be very happy to hear it! Always loved that song.

The last one would actually be quite hard for them to play.

hefdaddy42

Those would not have been the 3 I would have picked.  But should still be fun.

Not a fan of that last one generally, but would be funny enough if I was at the last show it was played and the first show it's played again after some years  :lol

The third one will slap live.

You know what the meme is. You know it's silly. You know you will sing along with it.

Xaves

All of those songs are great, though I may not have chosen A Rite Of Passage, but it's still a rocking tune.

Hell yes I will.  My favorite of those 3, and my kids love it as well.

I love seeing it, but they did it not long ago with Mangini, which is the only reason it wouldn't have been one of my choices.

That would indeed be a factor

If you asked me, I'd take from that reddit post that Fall Into the Light is on it as well.  Under Midnight Messiah
"seque to into the lite" and it seems people think "this is the life" but into the lite sounds more like fall into the light which would be disappointing if that replaced This is the Life.  Also, Hollow Years was in set 1, not set 2.

It seems the setlist could possibly be a lot more different than I expected and while I LOVE the idea of rotation, there's some songs from the Europe/SA leg that I'd really like to see over some of these new options.

Funny enough, in my video of Fall into the Light, JLB starts by mentioning the Portnoys in the crowd (Not MP, in 2019) and maybe MP has some liking to this one? It would certainly make for a heavier set along with the other choices https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwXsO7hjf7o

gzarruk

IIRC, Barstool quoted a recent interview where MP (and JP, I think) implied they wouldn't change the MM era songs for now at least.

Dark Eternal Night and Right of Passage if I'm seeing that correctly?

Two of the worst DT songs IMO... that would be disappointing and would still be completely ignoring SDOIT.

Hopefully that isn't accurate.

If replacing CM with DEN I'm fine with that and replacing NT with Midnight I'm good with that.....  I just hope they don't replace BW or UAM for ROP...

Adding 2 metal and removing a prog would be a bummer.    Plus it's my dad's first time seeing them and I want him to see the JP solo on UAM.   Will be a great show either way.

Didn't they say one of the songs hasn't been played in over 20 years?  If that's the case then there has to be something different other than DEN, ROP, and Midnight unless they are just very bad at math haha.

Stadler

Look, I get what I get, and I'm okay with that, but if I'm being really honest, "This Is The Life" and "Octavarium" are creating more anticipation than any of the others. Especially "This Is The Life".  There's a better than 50/50 chance I'll be moved during that song (it means a lot to me vis-a-vis my daughter).

I can't wait for this evening!! My boys are gonna blow the roof off The Met tonight!
