Does anyone own any cool DT "memorabilia" or "artifacts"?

Ok, "artifacts" makes it sound a little like we're doing archeology here, but hopefully you know what I mean. This question came up in the "The Silent Man" thread, and I'm very curious as a collector of some art from movies. Does anyone here have any cool DT stuff that might be less common?

Something cool that popped up in a Reverb ad for me recently is (apparently) JM's bass from the Scenes tour: https://reverb.com/item/48115255-yamaha-rbx-6jm-used-by-john-myung-on-the-1999-2000-scenes-from-a-memory-tour

I have a tour program from the Live Scenes tour–does that count???  ;)

Like 15 years ago, I was able to secure a mint condition 1985 Kings Park High School yearbook that features Petrucci and Moore. For some reason, Myung isn't pictured even though he graduated the same year.

Wow, that's amazing.

If I had the money and could justify spending that much on an instrument like that, I'd totally take this one home :hefdaddy

What a pretty bass. I used to have a red one. Neck was a bit too thick for me but it was lovely.

Seriously, it seems legit to me, so if I had the money to spare I would definitely hang this on the wall

It is legit. JM either sold or auctioned a lot of basses some years ago through a shop in florida called Bass Central. I remember seeing the original listing back then and it had a bunch of Yamahas and his Tungs IIRC. They all came with that same certificate of authenticity from John.

Someone needs to prevent me from finding them all...

Not that I'd pay that much money, and not that I think there are a ton of exact replicas of that bass, but I'd be awfully nervous given that the part that's signed is the cheap, plastic, easily-replaced back plate.

The only real unique thing I have is my I&W CD booklet that I got signed by JM, JLB, JP and MP after the Nov. 12, 1992 show.  I was fortunately able to secure KM's signature at either the Feb. 12, 1993 or June 3, 1993 show, so its fully autographed.

I love his Yamahas.  I have the stock model on which his signature 6-string was based, and I love it.  The playability is off the charts.

If it counts, I have a copy of Live Scenes with the original, recalled album cover. Picked it up used in a CD shop (RIP CD Source!) in Dallas on the cheap in, like, 2007.

Many years ago, there was a contest to design a Dream Theater ring.  My wife won the contest and got the prototype ring as her prize.

No.  They came out with a different one later, which is the one James wears.  I don't even think it's from the same jeweler.

Sausage

Don't know if it's considered a memorabilia, but I own the drumsticks MP used to record Trial of Tears!

MirrorMask

21 replies and no mention yet of MP's underwear being thrown in the audience (or was it auctioned?), what a letdown.

I have one of the lyric sheets for the fan chanters on systematic chaos. Was perhaps tenth in line for that recording which was a fun experience and I just this year found the paper that MP printed up for us to read from.

Weymolith has the ones MP wore on his head during his "Breakdown in Berlin" drum clinic back in 2000. Nick "Bogie" Bogovich had won them when he deciphered the "Eat my ass and balls" morse code pattern in ItNoG, and at some point gave/sold them to Wey.

Not sure of any other pairs of MP's undies getting into public circulation.   :omg:
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

In the interlude before that part, it's a metallic percussion hitting sound when the piano comes in

Whoa, that's a really cool find! John Myung's bass from the Scenes tour is a great piece of music history. I'm sure it would be an amazing addition to any music memorabilia collection.

EPIC Outro

I have the Live Scenes from NY album with the OG cover. I think my sister might have some MP drum sticks and a wrist band he threw into the audience many years ago. Maybe twenty years ago, my mom got me an Images and Words poster signed by the band when the album came out (including Kevin Moore).
I always kick myself for not buying JR's Scenes from a Memory keyboard when he sold it years ago. And would have loved to buy some of the drumsticks MP used on Black Clouds when he was selling those.
