Please select one option. I didn't include "other" as an option but if you happen to think a particular song is the likely opener, please post it.

From those options, I chose "Single from DT16", Assuming we get one before the tour starts (which is possible). If we don't get a single, then my vote is for TROAE or The Glass Prison.

Possible option not from the list: On The Backs of Angels

I think they start with Pull Me Under. Welcome MP back with the song that put them all on the map. If we get a DT16 single before then I would put that as song #2.

I was thinking either Pull Me Under or Overture 1928, but PMU would be great and symbolic in a way.

If the full album was out by the start of the tour, I would definitely say the new album opener. But because that is looking highly unlikely, I would imagine that the first (and perhaps second) single will be played during the show, but in the middle; no way would they open the show with it. And with that being the case, I'm going with Metropolis part I as the opener for the first show. Even though it's not my favorite, I do think it's the quintessential DT opener - moreso than PMU - and would be most appropriate for MP's first show back.

I'm curious, have they ever opened a show with PMU? It seems like a closing song or at least at the latter half of a show.

Plenty of times. Throughout the Waking Up the World tour (94-95) it was the show opener. And I know it's been used as an opener at some other shows, too. Without checking, off the top of my head, I believe it was occasionally used as an opener when they co-headlined with Satch in 2002 and QR in 2003. They may have used it as an opener for some of the European festival warm up shows, too in 2005, 2007 and 2009. I know for a fact that it was used at least once or twice in 2007 when they performed IaW in full.

Viper King is the obvious answer, and I'm not sure why it's not an option.

I don't know if you think this counts, but at the very first (festival) date of the 2007 tour, here in Milan, they DID open with Pull Me Under. Because they played Images and Words in full for its 15th anniversary.

Also, it was the opener of the Awake tour.

I too consider Pull Me Under a candidate as opener alongside Metropolis and Overture 1928. It will be one of these three I'd reckon. Sliiiight chance they go straight for The Glass Prison to blow everyone's minds. As I Am is also another good option.

I think a mashup of YNM and Your Majesty would be the *perfect* way to open up the 40th anniversary tour!

I think PMU personally but it would be a pretty epic moment to start with The Glass Prison. Maybe exclude the static and have the bell ring

I honestly think they're going to open with A Nightmare To Remember again. I feel like MP would want the kabuki drop reveal again, and to create the feeling of continuing from where they left off.
