Don't worry, I just got sleepy and then busy with work and friends coming over today
. Here are results:
Buddyhunter1Della Zyr - What Orpheus Sang Before
First impression: It's a burning memory... The bond between the artwork and the sound of this song is quite strong, it does feel very evocative. The atmosphere is both lush and dry in a way that's hard to describe, but it works. The second half feels closer to that dreamy quality I enjoy in my shoegazey dream pop. The buildup there really felt like it was going places, but ended up way too soon for me, it could have been a very climatic moment. Anyway, song is great, grew a lot on me, and doesn't feel too long.
4HEALTH - HATEFUL
First impression: Lots of energy and intensity here Hell yeah, a cool mix of Industrial and Synthwave in almost equal doses - heavy synths, paired with some great breakdowns and intense vocals. Not a lot to say here, I just like it quite a bit.
4.25ariichThe Last Dinner Party - Nothing Matters
First impression: Pretty fun and with energy Quite a cool track, plenty of energy and fun here, feels like a continuation of what Arcade Fire should be doing these days. What kind of brings this track down for me is that it's too short! Barely 3 mins long. But what's here is nice.
3.75The Last Dinner Party - The Feminine Urge
First impression: Wouldn't expect this to be super popular, but glad it isNow this one I feel it has a bit more meat to it, and nicer dynamics. Lovely mix of organic instrumentation and catchy vocals. Might not be super original but it does the job quite well and manages to feel somewhat fresh.
4twosuitslukeFrank Turner - Rivers
First impression: A bit of a rural vibeI quite like the use of violin and the overall rural vibe, it has an organic sound to it. The lyrics are nice, glad he's proud and can appreciate the good things about his country. It's a short and simple track, and I like it.
3.75Frank Turner - Farewell to my City
First impression: A different vibeWhat first caught my attention here was the bass, it sounds so good. I like the singing style here, which is closer to talking or rather, almost yelling. The vibes are cool, as the kids would say. I also like the piano that pops up during the first buildup, and I guess it's also there in the second one but more buried. Although I wasn't sold at first, it slowly grew on me with time. Great song.
4CrowOrville Peck - Kalahari Down
First impression: I still don't get the fuzz I'm afraid I'm completely lost on this style of music, that's somewhat adjacent to country, that seems to be gaining momentum there as of late. It's certainly a very well-written song, one that I can see why you and Indi loved, and while it's better than Daytona Sand, I'm afraid it's not connecting that much with me - maybe I expected the climax to be even more intense and dramatic, as it seems to go down right when it was getting really interesting. Oh well.
3.5Pulp - Common People
First impression: White people listen to this and be like 'hell yeah' I must point out that I quite like the use of synths here, they add a lot of flavor to what could have been just another Britpop tune. The rest of the song, well, is just a nice and fun track, with not much variation to it in terms of structure except for the final section but that's just a short segment.
3.5IndisciplineJethro Tull - Heavy Horses
First impression: Old man yells at cloud I quite like the rural vibe of this tune, with the flutes and the piano. The drums and guitar that pop up later add some nice dynamics here, along with the strings. It's quite a warm song, but I feel it's a bit too long, and most of the ideas kind of run out after the first half. I've never been too big on Jethro Tull and I'm afraid this doesn't change things much.
3.5Focus - Moving Waves
First impression: Quite different from what I expected Hocus Pocus is the only of their tracks I really know, and despite being a personal favorite, I don't think I've ever checked out more of their work. Well, this is interesting, but really does feel like an interlude track than a song of its own. It's just piano and vocals, with not much structure or meat to it. It's fine.
3.25PuppiesBjron Riis - A Voyage to the Sun
First impression: I don't know what to make of it This has grown a bit on me now - I like the Floydian vibes here, and the atmosphere is cool. It's a nice instrumental piece, with some interesting sounds here and there, but also feels like it goes nowhere. I think Ev sent me a track of his on a previous roulette, and it got a similar score.
3.5Deathspell Omega - The Shrine of Mad Laughter
First impression: I guess it does fit the theme's opposite Hmnnnn how about no
. This is just too dissonant and chaotic for me, and not a genre I particularly like those traits on. I'm surprised I could make it through 2 times.

Thanks for playing Crow and Puppies! You both sent me some great stuff throughout the roulette, and it's always fun to have you here. Now I've got loads of stuff to check out.
For the rest, send for the Catastrophe round! We're almost over, and remember, next round, only 1 player will be eliminated, to keep things spicy. Although luke still is at #1, Buddy is getting real close, so start placing your bets everyone
