Secret Santa 2023 - Video time!
« on: October 15, 2023, 01:18:53 PM »
Screw The Masters.  This is a tradition unlike any other.

Rules:
*  Don't tell anyone who you have.  If you need gift ideas, PM me and I will contact your SS, or you can post suggestions for yourself in this thread once the matchmaking is done.
*  Gifts should be around $30 not including shipping.
*  Plan on shipping your gift at least a week before someone's "Need by" date.  Different people might have different dates, be courteous to your recipient.  This includes being late, try not to be too late.
*  Pictures or video of you opening is required.  Video preferred.
*  There is a minimum "notoriety" requirement.  Due to my lack of activity, I will defer decisions of new people to a counsel of trusted users.  In all but two cases, the person who fails to give a gift is a newbie.  A repeat of several years ago non-participants is unacceptable.
*  You must provide me with tracking information.  I have two suggestions to do this and one for keeping shipping down:
1) Buy from Amazon or other online vendor that provides you a tracking number.  HOWEVER, they will ship it fast, so if you want to go that route, send the participant a card with a letter (which some of us do anyway), and send it a week before you order.  Address it to the person and their handle so they know it is from DTF.  In the letter state their gift will come direct from the vendor(s) and have fun with the rest.
2)  USPS isn't that bad usually, I have sent things three day for about $10 in the past.  Make sure you have a tracking number to give me if I ask for it.
3) IF YOU HAVE A CANADIAN: Don’t ship USPS, there are customs charges that must be paid if you go this route, you need to use UPS or FedEx.

I can't lay all blame on the refs like some people do (*cough cough Spencer cough*), but they certainly didn't help, especially that defenseless passer call, or that grounding call that should've been a fumble.

Of course you can - you know.  I was going to leave the rules out and just see who figured it out for a day.

I was being cheeky. I am definitely in. Somehow I always forget about this till you make the thread.

Yeah, it is.  I tried recruiting a few people, but struck out in a few cases.

Implode is a SS regular that didn't respond (but I don't think he's here much in general).

Drop your gift ideas in this thread, please. I'm kinda clueless about what to get for my Secret Santa.

P.S: same address for me.

Just a heads-up: To ensure I get my gift in time, it needs to arrive at my forwarding address by the end of this month. This way, I won't have to delay my video post to January or February.  :lol

For gifts suggestions anything from the STRYPER store would do for me (except CDs, clock): https://stores.portmerch.com/stryper/, anything Marvel too

Novelty cooking stuff is fun.
Main fandom are Marvel, LOTR and Star wars.

No address change here

T-shirt 3XL or 4XL
Main fandoms are Marvel, LOTR, Conan, Shakespeare, Cigars, and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Whiskey glasses are always fun

But really, throw all that out the window unless you're just completely stuck.  I am thrilled just to see what you think would be good stuff for me, based on what you know about me from our interactions here on DTF or elsewhere.
