It's on Dream Theater World facebook page, which I believe is run by Noxon. So here we go.  :metal

Also, I enjoyed the song on the first spin.  :tup

Mr.Mister

At this point it's the same comments on their album cover since at least the BCSL days. It's their signature style folks. It's not going to change.

More likely a themed album. There's not a story that starts, develops and ends (like SFAM) but all the songs have the unifying theme of dreams and nightmares.

Zydar

I actually quite like the album cover, no complaints from me.

In the words of David Lee Roth: What a long and strange trip it's been. Thanks everyone for sticking around.  Job done. Enjoy basking in mediocrity again. Max out.
All my natural instincts are begging me to stop
But somehow I carry on, heading for the top
A physical absurdity, a tremendous mental game
Helping me understand exactly who I am

So... an album around the concept of dreams and nightmare?  :P

I love the idea of it. :heart The execution is maybe not quite doing it for me for some reason.

Love everything so far!! It's about time we got a one-word title that's not overly poetic. Can't wait!

Trav

Quote from: Trav on October 10, 2024, 06:32:07 AMI doubt we're getting a single today. Probably info, but singles usually come out on Fridays

This aged well

Xaves

Finally new music. So hyped to listen to this!

Pettor

Honestly this sounds exactly what you would get if you took late DT (AVFTTOTW) but infused it with MP era details and sound. It makes so much sense when you hear it 😅

The song is good! Have to listen a couple of time but I am happy the structure and progressions are back to being more interesting and varied. Hopefully it's true for the full album as well. This was one of the main problems I had with the MM era. The chugga chugga JP that became the standard sound for the MM era is still there and I hope they do make some songs a bit more melodic and interesting in that regard.

Album art is not my favorite by any stretch. Felt sort of meh and I wish they could get a bit more creative with the style again. Using this template thing for the covers doesn't do much for me.

However I am super excited for the album. The song names are intriguing and really like getting 8 songs with longer length.

Mr.Mister

I'm happy they have a long track to close the album again. DT Shines in these and I cannot wait to hear what they've cooked.

Quote from: TheOutlawXanadu on October 10, 2024, 06:00:00 AMI find it funny how Portnoy was once criticized for "overplaying" but is now considered "non-technical". :lol

These don't have much to do with each other. You can overplay without having a whole lot of technique and you can utilize some very advanced techniques without overplaying at all, depending on the song of course.

Yeah, been a long time since that happened
