I personally don't quite get the year rankings, I think all of these years are strong.  Perhaps you can compare your AOTY across years, but when you talk about the best 50 albums from 2018 vs. 2017 vs. whatever other year, that's too much processing for me to think about, and I don't often trust my intuition.

Tiara is an amazing album, but I wouldn't have pegged it for this roulette given the songs James has been rating highly thus far.

Both really good choices. For roulette I'd have a hard time not picking The Bee. But then I also often think about Pyres on the Coast. Tough to choose!

My shortlist contained three songs that I truly agonised over. One was the one I sent (obvs) the other two were The Gutter by Coheed & Cambria and Dance Macabre by Ghost. Really surprised no one sent anything off Prequelle, it was my album of the year in 2018.

Well done Vmadera for sending some Coheed though. I do like The Dark Sentencer, just not as much as The Gutter or Old Flames.

I won't hear you out 

I'll go so far as to say it's one of the weakest songs they've ever written, imo. Vaxis I kinda breaks my heart. It has some incredible songs but sooooo much filler. If they'd condensed it down to like 11 or 12 songs it could've been one of my favourites. I have no idea if the band agree, but I feel Vaxis II is much better for being shorter. Maybe that could've been a 15 track album as well but they trimmed the fat.

Yea we might not agree on which are fillers but that's fine. Coheed are the best band in the world, so even their filler songs are pretty good. I adore Vaxis II, but not sure it makes my top 3 Coheed records, possibly top 5 though.

There's not much left to trim on a 53 minute album, but that being said I'm not much of a fan of Love Murder One and Our Love. They could both go but as the album is so packed full of killers I don't mind those two so much.

I agree that Love Murder One could possibly go. I'd also rank The Liars Club at the bottom for the album, but I'm clearly in the minority there. I like Our Love quite a bit, so I wouldn't want to lose it.

That said, I think it's an excellent album as-is and if it was up to me I probably wouldn't cut anything.
