I think Meg White blows, but Cindy Blackman - she drummed with Lenny Kravitz for the better part of two decades - is the real deal.  I've seen Lenny four times as an opener, and she was the star of the show all four times.

I don't know her name, but the woman who drummed with Meanstreak on this last tour was really good too.

Wasn't that JP's wife?

Eh, they used to have Nita Strauss and still have Courtney Cox on guitar, not a bad group of players to hang your hat with.

Courteney Cox >> Courtney Cox (although I'm not factoring in guitar skills).   :coolio

But Lonestar, there's not a single band I listen to, or have ever listened to that has a female drummer.
And if The Warning is the best a female band can get, that ain't gonna change anytime soon.

The Iron Maidens? :neverusethis:

Who's on drums and bass, Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow?

I'm genuinely shocked you know these three names have a connection.

@ Kev, Ed was in my Top 10.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

No; JP's wife, Rena, tore it up on guitar (she's quite the player, seriously).   Marlene Portnoy was on second guitar, and Mrs. Myung (I forgot her first name) was on bass.

Ok...I did see them open for JP, pretty solid performance all around.

3 - Gavin Harrison
Appeared on 18 of 29 lists
Highest Finish: 1 (BRGM)
15 Top 10 Finishes

4 - John Bonham
Appeared on 21 of 29 lists
Highest Finish: 1 (hefdaddy42)
11 Top 10 Finishes

OK, well I was doubting my guess for the top 6 and looks like I got it right in the end.

John Bonham - my guess before this countdown started is that Bonham would end up at number 3 overall. However I'm ok with him number 4 as that is also where I ranked him. Just a brilliant drummer.

Gavin Harrison - my number 8. Was pretty sure Gavin would make the top 25 but I really didn't expect him to rank this high. Amazing drummer, just love his style. yeah he may sometimes overplay live but it works, unlike Lars :)

Looks like I will finish up at 16/26, which is higher than I expected. My own personal top 10 all made the overall top 25.

Yea the lack of Lang is interesting, probably because he's not really known for any bands and everyone listed is a band drummer for the most part.

I know who Lang is, but have never really listened to anything he’s been involved in. Did he play for Bryan Adams?

The shocker to me (apologies if this is spotlighting but I don’t think so at this point) is that the guy from Haken (don’t even know his name off the top of my head) didn’t make it at all. I only know Affinity, but he’s pretty amazing on that one and I know there are lots of Haken fans on this forum.
Yes Ray Hearne.  I had him ranked quite high on my list, and having just recently seen him play live, he deserves to be there in my eyes.  But I'm sure we all have some 'favorite's" that we're surprised didn't make the list.

Well, as we have prematurely moved to the "let's discuss the drummers who didn't make the list" part of the thread :lol , I will say that I am curious to see where Ed Warby lands.  Given how loved Ayreon is around here, I thought he had a good chance to sneak into the top 25.

I gave a lot of thought to Ed as I’m a huge Arjen fan.

Warby is in my top 10.  He's done a lot of stuff besides Ayreon as well, I don't think people realize how versatile he is.

So I had Bonham of course, but I’ve never heard a PT song and couldn’t have named their drummer.

I didn’t have Bonzo super high though because while he’s recorded a lot of awesome iconic stuff, his style is not necessarily my preferred style.

Gavin Harrison - I had him at #4. When I bought Deadwing completely on a whim back in 2005 and listened to it the first time, I was just in constant amazement at the drums. One of very very very few drummers that could potentially go toe to toe with my #1 drummer in his prime.

John Bonham - Didn't make my list, nor my shortlist. I love Led Zeppelin and find Bonham to be a good drummer, but I don't think he lived long enough to cross over into great drummer territory. Kind of the same deal with people like Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhoads, or Cliff Burton....

Let's see, option a) listen to Kiss, or option b) watch a film where there's no dialogue for an hour and a half except Tom Hanks talking to a volleyball.  I'll take Option B, please!

There's other clips from it as well, I'm not sure if it's an actual full-length parody product or just a series of clips designed to make it look that way.
