Round 4 First Impressions!Faizoff: I can't exactly tell you why, but this genre of metal has always been the hardest sell out of all of 'em for me and this isn't really standing out in any way to defy that bias.
TAC: Okay, you
definitely don't actually listen to music like this, right?
Ariich: I don't know what you were worried about because you clearly understood the assignment better than a lot of other submissions here.
4. Always liked but never loved these guys and it's easy to pinpoint why - the mixing is just atrocious.
5. This is right on the fringe of a style I've been surprisingly into as of late but lacking the aggression… and tempo… that really makes it appealing.
6. I think this is the closest anyone has come to directly repeating themselves thus far in this roulette, though to be fair I feel like this is a slight improvement over last time?
Litho: I've always seen these guys as, like, the most milquetoast, average possible version of their genre, but to be fair it's a genre I tend to like.
King: Oh hey I've heard this one before. These guys are like radio rock menaces.
9. The song is a pileup of neat riffs that doesn't really amount to anything or feel cohesive in any way.
10. Bit one note and I'm not quite a fan of the guitar sound either, it feels like a very literal and objectively correct but misguided take on the theme.
Dacul: Y'know, I feel like going in a different direction than literally everyone else for this round is probably going to pay off more than it deserves too.
Seneca: The highlights of this are among the best moments of the round. The parts in between exist to make those highlights stand out more. And yet I still feel obligated to complain about the latter.
Vmadera: Another band I've always struggled with, and… yeah, this isn't really changing my mind either.
14. The genre this band lists themselves as would've never occurred to me because they sound like a completely different, better genre on this song.
15. It really has the feel of being radio rock of a bygone era, sans the sticky hooks that most characterize the style, so… uhh, that makes it a bit less than that.
16. One of those "cool sound" bands that I've never fully loved but I'm never against hearing more from either.
