Offense was fast and unstoppable. Defense did a pretty good job and also forced a least one turnover that led to another TD. Broncos' D just did not have it together today while Tua and company looked unbeatable and efficient.

I'm not sure what you guys expect; Bill O'Brien isn't the recipe for putting up 45 points a game.  In my book, I would have liked to have seen one more touchdown, but we skanked two field goals as well; that could have been a 21-10 "victory formation" win under slightly different circumstances.   Remember, people were touting the Jets as possible division winners before St. Rogers went down.  Last I checked, he doesn't play any defense, so that unit is intact. Mac made some nice throws, and he looked to gel a couple times with his receivers.  I don't expect miracles against Dallas, and losing three of four CBs isn't optimal, but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.

A couple of peculiar calls also changed the score quite a bit. NYJ scored their TD because of a ticky-tack DPI in the endzone. I thought it was one you probably call, but it certainly wasn't anything egregious. One of our "skanked" (interesting use of the word) field goals came because of a non-call after Douglas was taken to the ground well before the ball got to him. Nothing ticky-tack at all about that. That could have been the difference between a +7 for NYJ or a -4.

I don't think the replay officials are giving the same deference to the on the field officials that they used to. I've seen a couple of calls overturned this year that I don't think would have been last year. In this case I don't know if Atwel stepped out of bounds or not. Mostly because the replays weren't conclusive (one showed him in, one showed him out, and one showed, I don't know what). I do know there was a referee running right behind him that thought he stayed in bounds, though. I don't think clear and convincing means the same thing it used to.

1. Miami - SF should be here but I need to see someone stop Miami's offense first
2. San Francisco - their next 6 games are against competitive teams, will they still be unbeaten at the bye?
3. Philadelphia - Hurts doesn't look as good as last year but this team is physically dominant
4. Kansas City - if the offense is clicking they will be a tough out as the defense seems to be better than usual
5. Buffalo - rounded back into form quickly
6. Dallas - not ready to write them off after one bad game
7. Seattle - still like 'em
8. Cleveland - defense is insane, only given up 21 first downs on the year
9. Detroit - defense seems to be vastly improved
10. Baltimore - very dangerous when healthy and Lamar isn't doing stupid shit

I waffle between "give it a little time" and "SHIT SHOW".  Jimmy G. seemed like the safe choice for Josh, but I watched that last 10 minutes of the Steelers game, and if I was a Raider fan, I'd be disappointed.  I wouldn't have taken the points off the board; if the strategy was to rely on our defense - which is a sound strategy - why not give your offense another minute and a half to work with?  They clearly could have used it...

If I'm not mistaken, other than the Browns, the Raiders have the worst record of any team over the past 20 seasons (the 20 seasons since they got pounded in SB37).  Normally, when a team I hate sucks that hard for that long, the hate lessens, but (most) Raiders fans make it easy to maintain the hate.

* Not racist; it's a reference to an accusation that black coaches that fail get fewer chances to redeem themselves, whereas certain white coaches seem to get rehired over and over despite the lack of any discernible success in their track record. I'm not a Josh McDaniel's fan, and I believe strongly that just because you can call an offense (or a defense) doesn't make you head coach material (see: Matt Patricia as well).  I was very much on the Jon Gruden/Derek Carr train and thought they would ultimately be successful till Gruden blew it all up. I do not think McDaniel is the savior; I think he was a PR hire for a club that is looking to get headlines, not win.

It used to be amusing to make fun of what a loon Antonio Brown is. For the last couple of months, though, it's been far more pathetic than funny. I fear a point will come when we all feel bad about having made fun of a guy who clearly needed help that he wasn't getting. Watching Chandler Jones unravel so quickly is concerning. I appreciate that the NFL is trying to curb brain trauma, but I think there needs to be some greater effort to help people once it's happened. No, there's no guarantee that football scrambled either of their brains, but it's not something that can be ignored. Richard Pryor told the story of how big Jim Brown helped him out when things were rock bottom. This is a different situation, but it does seem that, along those same lines, there are former players that could be taking this up. There are plenty of retired players hellbent on altruism, and looking after people who've gone off the rails seems like a niche that needs filling. It's certainly in the interest of both the NFL and the NFLPA. I hope they decide to become more active in it sooner rather than later.
