One of my wife's faves, and I thought he was pretty cool, too.  Great voice, and that one song of his "All By Myself" has a Rachmaninoff piano concerto worked into the bridge, which was pretty nuts for a pop singer in the 70's.  It was cut out of the single version of course, but I've got the album version on my iPod.

M Emmet Walsh, 88 (would have been 89 on Friday).

Character actor whose credits in movies and tv are very extensive.

Maybe Most notably for me

-Fletch
-The Jerk
-Slapshot
-Blade Runner

Also A Time to Kill, among many others.

One of my favorite character actors.  RIP
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

And like so many good character actors I couldn't connect him with any of his various roles. At no point have I wondered "where have I seen that guy before."

That was me with the name.  "Who?"   <Quick google search> "Oh, yeah, he's AWESOME!"

Yeah I have to admit I had to google his name, and recognised him a little bit. Can't attach him to any specific role/movie though.

He’s one of the few “that guys” that I actually knew his name.

It was his parts in The Jerk and Raising Arizona for me.

"Die Navin R. Johnson. Bastard, random son of a bitch, typical run of the mill bastard."
"Die milk face!"
"Die gas pumper!"

RIP Mr Walsh  :(

Edit:  Looking at his credits, I forgot he was in Harry and the Hendersons and Slap Shot!  The Dr. in Fletch was classic too.

Yeah, I only recognize him from The Jerk. He was apparently in Knives Out too, though I can’t picture the role.

Dayum.  I think my fave movie with him is Diggstown.  Watched that a bunch of times in University.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

Enemy Mine is one of my favorite movies.  Quaid and LGJ were both great in that.

I'll always think of Louis Gossett Jr for 2 roles, An Officer and a Gentleman and especially Iron Eagle II (I sadly never saw the 1st one).

See-Gar!

My FiL was in the Navy, and he said there was a lot in that film that was pretty accurate, based on his memory of his service time.

CJ Snare from Firehouse passed on Friday.

https://twitter.com/firehouseband/status/1777079540893835611?s=46&t=fZEL_VJFXNecsfY2bM-KNA

I saw that earlier and the only thing that I could think of was....

Bye bye, baby, bye bye....that's all she wrote.

I know, bad taste.  But I can't help it.  Other than that song, I never really dug Firehouse...his vocals were always good though.

I was never really into them beyond some of those early hits that I remember really liking as a kid. Just listened to some of Hold Your Fire though, and boy the David Prater production really is similar there as on Images and Words. The title track especially sounds like it could have been an I&W B-side or something.

That was my first thought upon hearing the news as well. For whatever reason, I feel guilty about that thought, though.
