As it feels like we get one of these every other day now, it feels like a thread is needed.

Racquel Welch passed at 82.

lonestar

Tremendous woman, tremendous career. I'm sure half of us had her on our wall at some point in the 80s.

Also, her assistance in helping Andy Dufresne escape Shawshank Penitentiary cannot be understated

Mary Tyler Moore Show 1973

Mary Richards: "I have to bring our obituary file up to date. The ones we do in advance. Next is Raquel Welch."

Rhoda Morgenstern: "Well, one thing we know for sure is she didn't drown."

Hopefully that isn't too soon for people.  I mean no disrespect.  I bet since 1973, she'd gotten over it and maybe even laughed at it.

I don't know that I've ever seen anything in which she had more than a cameo role, but she remained hot way longer than anyone has a right to.

Fun fact:  Her cousin was the interim President of Bolivia.

Harmony

Her daughter was in an old (80s) favorite movie of mine.  She is also very beautiful.

Did not know she was Bolivian.

Mixed race.  She was born in Chicago as Jo Raquel Tejada.  Her father (Armando Carlos Tejada Urquizo) was an aeronautical engineer from La Paz, Bolivia.  Her mother (Josephine Sarah Hall) was English.

I really loved Tim McCarver as an analyst.  I recall noticing a few times that he wasn't calling games anymore, but I can't recall hearing when he retired.  Either I missed it or he stepped away quietly.

Cool Chris

I thought he was a bit of a blowhard when calling MLB games.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

I'm a big fan; his love of the game was evident from the first pitch.

Deion Sanders disagrees with you.

I imagine Mr. Sanders and I wouldn't see eye to eye on very many things.

I loved the old science fiction movie Raquel was in called Fantastic Voyage.  She looked good in the suit.

Except those 3 times he called the Giants winning the World Series.

Richard Belzer.  I remember him as a stand up comedian before his years on SVU.

Whenever it comes, I'd hope he gets his own thread. No matter what one thinks about his presidency, nobody can argue that he was definitely among the best of us as a human being.

pg1067

Carter left office over 43 years ago.  He is the president to live longest after leaving office by more than 11 years (#2 was Hoover, who lived nearly 32 years after leaving office; #3 was Ford, who lived nearly 30 years).

Other than those who died in office and those still living, the presidents who died soonest after their terms ended were Polk (103 days), Arthur (1 year and 259 days, and Washington (2 years and 285 days).

100%.  I never had the pleasure to meet him personally, but he did a lot with the school I got my MBA at, and one of my professors had a very close relationship with him over the years.  (Sidebar, my great uncle - and namesake - graduated the Naval Academy with Carter).

I mean, talk about a guy who has the VIP backstage pass to the afterlife.

here's the SAG Awards In Memoriam.

Some names likely missing, but also a few I don't recall like Fred Ward.

Looks like Tom Sizemore will be joining this list shortly.

We lost another great musician, David Lindley.  That man could play just about anything but he blew me away with his playing lap steel guitar.

He worked with many of the greats - Dolly Pardon, Warren Zevon, Ry Cooder, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, and Curtis Mayfield.

If you don't know who he is, do yourself a favor.
