This was a weird round, nothing really stood out but still everything was good enough.
ReaperKK: Days Of The New - Flight ResponseSinger reminds me of Eddie Vader a lot and that’s a good thing. It’s interesting how prominent the acoustic guitar is while still being pretty heavy. On the other hand, it is a bit generic, I guess. Or maybe I just didn’t completely get what I expected. Still a nice song, though.

Sacul: Deftones - PassengerSomehow I never heard even one Deftones song. This sounds like a 100% Tool. As I said in a thread before, I didn't realize this was actually Maynard because the original singer sounds similar as well. When it comes to music it’s like a watered down version of Tool. Chorus is easily my favorite part.
7.5/10
Elite: Gabriel Kahane - BaltimoreThis song somehow tells a story in 3 and a half minutes and feels longer than it really is, in this case that’s not a particularly bad thing. I had a problem getting into it though. It’s nice, his voice is really beautiful but I couldn’t find anything to grab onto.
7/10
Crow: Parius - Dimension YI can’t believe I’ll say this: I like how funky it is.
No matter how hard I try, I keep waiting for a climax but in the end there’s none. I guess it ends a bit anticlimactic, I expected something explosive and huge. Oh well.
7.5/10
ariich : Bend Sinister - Best of YouSounds like something I know but can’t put my finger on it (maybe fun.?). It’s a type of music I really like - kinda bittersweet and catchy with bright vocals. Contrary to some others, this song got me an expected climax. Due to the ending part which brings a change but still fits, this song doesn’t feel nearly as long.
8/10
Puppies_on_acid: Imperium Dekadenz - VolcanoIt’s a black metal, alright. More of the same but at the same time quite fun to listen to. I especially like the riffs. What I like about this type of black metal is that it doesn’t try to be black metal over the top, there are elements that are modern and could appeal to someone not into this kind of music as well. Sadly, it drags for a few minutes too long imo. Quite a nice song but nothing new.
7/10
Stadler: Ultravox - Dancing With Tears in My EyesReceived them before and quite like the song but only after the roulette ended I completely fell in love with it. This one is great as well (but I think I like Vienna a bit more). It’s not a secret I like synthpop a lot and I should listen to more of it. Ultravox could be a start, hope they are this good most of the time. The song is catchy and kinda bittersweet, there is even a guitar solo. It’s repetitive but I never got tired of it.
8/10
Vmadera00: Volbeat - BecomingIntro and outro sound more like death metal but the rest of the song is quite generic sounding heavy metal, in my opinion. However, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like the song, quite the contrary! This is one of the biggest surprises of the roulette for me so far. I obviously heard of them but I don’t know why I never checked them out. Poulsen has a great heavy metal voice, reminds me of greats such as Hansi and Bruce Dickinson. Instrumental parts are just ok but where the song shines is during vocal parts, I loved every melody and singing in general. Said that, during the listening I got a bit tired of it, guess I overplayed it already.
8/10
Senecadawg2: Bill Callahan - One Fine MorningThis reminds me of MIcah P. Hinson, both in voice and style. But is actually better produced and musically probably better than anything I heard from Micah
It’s quite long for what it is but still pretty nice. However, a longer runtime gives it time and space to progress and build more naturally. I rarely feel like listening to this kind of music anymore but I might still check it out further.
7/10
Lonestar: Trans Siberian Orchestra - SomedayShort and sweet. The chorus is great and I always sing along. Voice and melodies are really beautiful. Nothing more to say, a great song. Heard of TSO before but never listened to them, this will surely make me.
8/10
Buddyhunter1: Ihsahn - UndercurrentYeah, I’m not into his growls or whatever that is. The rest of the song is pretty good. It has grown on me quite a bit, especially due to clean vocal parts. I like heavier and weirder parts a bit less which is probably unfortunate since most of his music is heavier (I listened to the Arktis but I don’t remember much, other than Celestial Violence). I feel like I should like this a bit more so I might give it some more chance.
7.5/10
Jingle.boy: Phil Collins - I Don't Care AnymoreSimilarly to Ultravox, it has that 80s sound and doesn’t sound dated, in my opinion.I quite like Phil’s voice in Genesis as well. I obviously heard some of Phil's solo songs and everything I heard was as solid as this one. I should check his music further, for sure. There isn't a part of the song I’m crazy about but the whole song is pretty good and easy to listen to. According to that, the score is good but not great
7.5/10
LithoJazzoSphere: Chelsea Wolfe - The Waves Have ComeI can’t remember what song I received before but I think it was something crazier. Also, I don’t remember her having such a “non-offensive” voice. Maybe I’m mixing her up with someone else. Anyway, this song is just ok. I’m not crazy about it but it’s better than I expected
There’s a lot going on so maybe that’s why it doesn’t feel as long as it is. It progresses nicely and introduces something new along the way. My favorite part is after it gets a bit heavier with strings and drums.
7.5/10
Evermind: Sunburst - Remedy of My HeartHow is this not Roy Khan?
and yes, I love Roy Khan, one of my favorite singers (please don’t send Conception, I have it on my wishlist). This doesn’t sound like anything new or too impressive but everything is so heavy and metal, production is great so how can I not like it.
8/10
HOF: Sting - Island of SoulsI like Sting’s voice, and I know some of his and The Police’s opus. Can’t say this is among his best I hear but it is a solid song. Lyrics are heartbreaking and the atmosphere is really nice. Vocal melodies seem a little bit awkward but I got used to it.
7.5/10
Wolfking: Hellripper - Warlocks Grim and Withered HagsFor some reason I thought this would be more of a power metal than melodic death. This is a case of a song being completely alright and non-offensive to me but I just can’t get into it. I guess vocals aren’t really in my style but musically this is more than solid. Melodies are really catchy and the song is fun to listen to.
7.5/10
Twosuitsluke: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - The Dripping TapI think you’ll be a bit disappointed with the score
I heard of them before, think I even checked something out and similarly to this, everything was fine but I didn’t really get into it and I know what the fuss is about (for now, at least). My favorite part of the song is actually the beginning and “drip drip from the tap don’t slip”. Too bad the intro part doesn’t come back. And this shouldn’t be this long.
