Hello everyone and welcome to my roulette v4. My first three were all different in style, rules and vibe. This time around I want to do it really simple. No special rules, constraints or themes. Even my banlist will be more lenient and maybe even shorter this time, as weird as it may sound. For some reason, I used to ban artists I knew only somewhat (an album or a few songs), I didn’t want to receive anything I remotely heard. And don’t get me wrong, I’d still like to receive something I never heard of, something new and fresh. But I’m still leaving some room for you to try and reintroduce me to an artist. You can check my
rateyourmusic and
Last.fm pages, any album I rated on rym is banned even if I didn’t ban the artist fully. Also, there is a chance I accidentally kept something off the banlist so bear with me.
In previous roulettes there were some bands I absolutely loved and kept listening to, some uninteresting to me and some I-don’t-know ones but I’d say most stuff was at least good. After all, I’m not that demanding
ROULETTE FORMATAs I said, keeping it simple this time. Just send me something (hopefully good) and I’ll score it 1-10 (with 0.5 point increments).
I’ll try to deliver results every weekend, with short writeups (I’m really bad at it).
RULES- 8 open rounds
- x number of participants
- send me Spotify link (preferred), Youtube link or just name of artist and song, but please specify if you want me to listen to special version or something
- once sent, band is banned in future rounds
- no time limit but beware, I'm not too keen of super long songs and I usually need some time to get into them
- send on time! (48h after results at last)
TASTESNothing new, my tastes didn’t really change
If you don’t know me, the stuff I usually like is prog (both rock and metal). I like really melodic music, full of hooks, especially if vocal melodies are great as well. Said that, you probably shouldn't send instrumental music, not crazy about it. I like to feel emotion in a song, and I would choose it over heaviness.
That modern alt/prog is my favorite thing lately, see Soen, Dead Letter Circus, Rishloo, dredg
Don’t like djenty djent, especially if there is not much else going on.
When it comes to heavy music, groovy is the way to go.
Other genres I like are metal in general, indie pop/rock/folk, synthpop, singer/songwriter stuff..
