I do think it should be future Highlander tradition to cast a random person a Scotsman and a legit Scotsman as a Spaniard.

Agreed, except Ramirez was Egyptian.

I think the issue with Highlander is the lore. Without it, you can make one really cool movie about immortals trying to kill each other. Doing that more than once just becomes redundant and boring. But bringing in lore risks doing exactly what the original series of movies did, makes it weird and uninteresting.

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!!!!

I think you mean, "there can be only one!"

I guess my memory is what it not used to be.

A bit off topic, but I truly wish Seinfeld was airing over the past couple of years, just to see how Jerry, George, Kramer, and Elaine would have handled Covid, Trump, BLM, #MeToo, social media, and everything else that would have seemed bonkers in the 90s.

Enemy Mine...never saw it, but will correct that soon.

It's a really cool movie.....Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr. For as 'sci fi' as it was it had some good human elements to it and they told a really cool story. I think an updated version of it could be neat, but as with most of these....the originals just had that 'feel' that can't be recaptured.

I remember the film, and it always being in my blast radius so to speak, just never sat down to watch it. May rectify that today in fact, got some time, and it's on my mind.

Cannonball Run. It would be so much fun with modern actors.

Haven't thought about those movies in ages. The monkey driving the limo and flipping off the old lady killed me as a kid. That story is loose enough you could totally get an ensemble cast and make it your own.

A new Night Court starts soon. I've written here before Dan Fielding might be an all-time top 3 TV character of mine, and yet I am content to keep him in my memory from the original run.

The Towering Inferno

I was just talking about that the other night with my family.    PERFECT movie to be updated.

I don't disagree.  However, keep in mind that they did a remake of The Poseidon Adventure about 15 years ago, and it bombed.

Seems they're going to do a Roadhouse remake with Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton, and of course they're fucking up the story it seems, with Dalton as a retired MMA fighter who takes a job as a bouncer instead of him being a professional cleaner.

Oh well.

A few years back it was going to star Ronda Rousey…..but I think that idea got canned when Holly Holm knocked her out.

Too bad they can't get Jeff Healey back to reprise his role.

Gary Clark Jr. would be cool in that role RJ.

Oh well.

I'd have slim interest in general (I LOVE the original), but with Jake Gyllenhaal, it plummets to zero interest.

Aren't about 50% of Van Damme/Seagal movies basically Roadhouse remakes?
