I've been spending an hour or so wracking my brain over my list. Can't wait to share. Big lack of prog, should be an interesting thread  :lol

Yknow? What the hell, I'm gonna do one of these soon.
Probably will do it in such a way that I don't have to repeat any albums from my first list so it might be like a top 70-75 where 20-25 are repeats where I just link to my original posts but whatever corn corn

It's been 4 years, I've gotten at least 400 more slbums since then, so

Oh man. Ours probably couldn't possibly be any more different so having both together will be quite a show  :lol yours will likely have FAR deeper cuts than mine, too.

Do you factor in personal impact, or just how 'cool' the music sounds? For me it's a mixture of both. I've been having real difficulty figuring out 11-50 ranks just because every album has a different emotional 'weight' to them for lack of a better term, because of when I got into it and what was happening in my life etc., but then I have to figure out where it ranks because maybe not every song is a winner in my book. It's really hard.

50 copies of Toto IV, obviously.

Seriously though, that's a good way to boil it down, thanks TAC. I've got roughly 75 albums here right now after some revisions, and I need to chop 25 off. Decisions!

Been thinking I'd like to redo my unfinished list one of these days. Especially since it's changed enough to warrant it.  I skimmed through it and found that only a handful would still make the cut.  :lol

That's where I would struggle with my list. If I do an "All-Time" Top 50, Zeppelin 4 is in the top 10, I played it as much as any album for a 5 year stretch. But that was 20+ years ago. I have little desire to listen to it these days. I'd never take it with me to a desert island.

I'd like to put myself on the waiting list for this (as far as there even is any), as in.. I would like to renew my original top 50 that I did like 4 years ago, but I will need some time (a couple months??) to compile everything and make some write-ups in advance. The list has changed a lot since my first one so I need to renew!!!
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

I've had the idea in my mind for a while to do a Top 50 list ... of the best songs I received in my roulette's.  Well, it evolved to a top 150.  Seeing as there isn't much activity going on in this area, I'm gonna bless myself to go ahead and do this shortly.  The first 100 or so won't have much (if any) writeup to them - just the song/band/album, who sent it to me, and when.

33 DTF'rs have contributed to this list, so there just might be a little something for everyone.

I may just do.

My version 1 was the albums that shaped me to that point.  Looking back at that list there was nothing from 2007 and later I believe.  This version would be albums that have helped and stuck with me over the last 8-10 years.  Growing up you have a different appreciation and perspective of things the older you get.  Things move me differently than they did back in the day.  The albums I think in this one would represent different emotions, different memories and might simply be a top 50 because of the memories it brings to mind when listening.  There may even be some from the past that I haven't appreciated until lately.  I'll try and work on something.

When I did my 2nd list (I think it was only a couple years after the first one), I limited it to bands that I'd discovered from DTF (specific members, or just the collective whole), or since joining DTF.  Since it's been 8 years, I could probably do another list like that.  It's just a matter of committing the disposable time.

Exactly.  If you are going to commit the time you want to do it properly.  I have a few already.  I think I will keep working on it
