Glasser, ignore what I said in the other thread. This is kicking my ass, and I'm only 2 songs in! How can a band that have been going this long, write riffs this good? Fuck! The production is fucking beefy, the drums are pounding and I am banging my goddamn head :metal

I remember Mikael's growls being absolutely shot on it, from the little I had listened to. He didn't sound good.

I’ll give it a listen this weekend. Blackwater Park is the only Opeth album I care for.

Norah Jones - Visions

Totally missed putting this one on my new release radar.  It's gonna take a few plays for the whole thing to sink in, but "That's Life" and "I'm Awake" are killer standouts on the first listen.

Justice - Audio, Video, Disco.

There's some good songs here but a lot of them are held back by some of the most horrendous synth sounds I've ever heard. :lol I don't know why they sound like that, especially considering the production on their first album was basically perfect.
Yeah it's not very good :lol. Hope their new record is half decent at least.

death's dynamic shroud - American Candy

I didn't expect this to be an AOTY contender but here we are. :o If typical vaporwave is sampling pop songs and making them more sedated and atmospheric, this is the opposite, pumping them up to extreme Devin Townsend-esque walls of sound.

I saw these guys play live several months ago and it was really cool. They were crammed on a tiny stage amidst all of their gear and were still going all out, headbanging, swinging guitars around - it was awesome.

Black Dresses - Forever in Your Heart

I thought I burnt myself out on this album last year, but I guess I will never get tired of it. Heavy, melancholy, heartfelt, absurdly cute at times. I love it.

It's not bad, I love the production on the debut but the songs are hit-or-miss for me, so I don't think this one's considerably worse. The production's a huge step back though. And yeah, I'll definitely check out the new one when it comes out.

I saw these guys play live several months ago and it was really cool. They were crammed on a tiny stage amidst all of their gear and were still going all out, headbanging, swinging guitars around - it was awesome.

They were opening for George Clanton and Frost Children right? I was at the Boston show for that tour - they were honestly the main reason I went. :lol But George Clanton has some nice stuff too and Frost Children ended up being a great surprise, they put on one hell of a show.

I was probably one of the youngest people in the audience and I'm 28. :lol

Hmnnn guess I should check this out once my roulette is over.

Well we'll see what you get the next couple rounds, if I manage to hang in there until the end :corn

Yes! And same, I went for dds, but Frost Children actually ended up being my favorite performance of the night! They had so much energy and I realized that I'm getting old...my neck and back were so sore the next day from dancing and headbanging.

Right now, Painkiller

Yea, it's got me spinning some of their albums too. The new one hit me hard yesterday, holy shit.

Currently spinning Firepower, and it just isn't doing it for me. There's something about the riffs and the production on Invincible Shield, man.

Huh, that's interesting. It's early for me to say how I'll rank Invisible Shield vs. Firepower, but my feeling was if you like one, you probably enjoy the other too. Anyway...I love Firepower, and I'm kinda shocked that they were able to, once again, deliver so much goodness with Invisible Shield, so I'm happy we have both  :)

I can't even really explain it myself, but I know it's predominantly about the fucking riffs! A good barometer for me is how much I air guitar to a riff/solo.

Well let me tell you, this thing has had me air guitaring whilst cooking, in the shower and whilst I'm taking a shit. That says it all. Invincible Shield just makes me want to bang my head and shred my air guitar.
