Spinning this tonight:
Defenent-Blind Guides Of The Blind

Clean vocal high energy classic metal. Has a NWOTHM feel to it. Young band from Finland. They look like kids, but I'm really enjoying this. Not sure if the hooks are strong enough but this album rocks.

I gave this album a couple of listens based on this write up and agree! Spot on TAC. Feels like it is from the 80s..

Nice. I spun it again today in the doctor's waiting room. I'm really liking this. What Could Have Been starts out a little too close to The Unforgiven, but other than that, this is a fun listen.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Yeah, definitely a strong Metallica influence creeping in for that song. Trying to put my finger on what else this band reminds me of.

That Firewind S/T is really nice. Any recommendations from the good people here on other good albums of theirs to check out? I see they've been around for a minute...

I love it! I got a few more songs left but it's a great album. It sounds like it belongs in the early to mid 90's

I had a listen through twice this week, being the 'new music' whore that I am. It is pretty much exactly as you described Nick. Not exactly breaking new ground but definitely enjoyable. I don't really listen to music in this style anymore, I just go back and hit the classics if I want this sound.

Yep, it's a good one! The one-two opening shot of Neural Hack and Warped, in particular, is a blast.

From vocalist of Polish band Rosk (not really familiar with them, I believe they are post-metal/rock or something), this is quite beautiful. Not breaking much new ground, in the vein of melancholic singer/songwriter music, the instrumentation is pretty sparse, mostly piano and some strings, plus the occasional beat - see the title track, one of my favorite tunes in here, btw...the main piano theme reminds me of Weather System-era Anathema.

Other than that, I can hear some Yann Tiersen influence here and there. Obviously not the right thing if you are looking for some energetic music  ;) but, honestly, this is actually very engaging and just the right length.

Almost done with Charly's main discography, and can't believe I haven't encountered a bad album yet - weakest ones so far have been a 3.5 out of 5 at most. Truly one of the world's greatest musicians, barely known outside my country and some places of Latin America.

Allegiance is my favorite album of theirs, and others seem to like the follow up (The Premonition).  They have a new album out tomorrow with the same singer as the self-titled.

Thank you! Yes, I saw there's a new coming, with Herbie Langhans on vocals...he's great on the S/T. I'm seeing there's been quite the revolving door of singers throughout their history...

Haha yeah, Apollo Papathanasio was their longest tenured singer, appearing on 4 albums (including those I mentioned).  I think they're a pretty consistent band, but my favorites are definitely Allegiance and the self-titled.

In a power/power-related mood...

That Excalion album is really good. I had enjoyed their 2017 album, Dream Alive, then saw they released something last year (maybe I checked it out, maybe not, I had it saved...), finally I gave it a proper shot. Melodic power, but with some decent crunch and some prominent keyboards as well. More on the "dramatic" than the "happy" side. Maaaybe a little bit of Angel Dust, although not as heavy. Real nice vocals and melodies. Even the slower, more ballad-y tracks work. Definitely recommended.

Sounds great. Need more listens to give a deeper opinion, but enjoyed it on first spin!

Never heard of these before but this is pretty great.  Instrumental psychedelic prog rock/metal.  Super atmospheric, melodic prog music.  Kali Yuga is a probably my favourite on the album so far.
