I'm on the second to last song and this album kicks all sorts of ass, looks like I'm going to relieve the glory days and do a NOFX discography listen after my Steven Wilson discography listen.

Hell yea dude, keep me updated. Make sure you don't miss out the EPs, they have some real hidden gems, as well as the obligatory listen to The Decline.

Bilo 4.0 doesn't reach the highs of 3.0 but is easily my second favourite releases from DMM. I love the string arrangements on this album, they mix in a Studio Ghibli-esque feel to his music. Just glorious.

Great album, and one hell of an emotional trip if you're aware of the concept.

That's part of it, but that comes after the death of his mother, which is why the whole middle of the album is as dark as it is.

I'm not as hopelessly in love with 3.0 as people here seem to be (though it is still fantastic), so 4.0 is my favorite of the Bilos.  Not quite sure if I prefer it to Who Bit the Moon? or Eco.  None are quite on the level of LUN in the DMM broader universe though.

I hadn’t listened to Autotheism in a while, and I had kinda forgotten how (relatively) melodic it is, especially the first half. The “suite” even has some Opeth vibes in the riffing, from time to time.

Hmm, I just listened to that album again last month, after posting about how their earlier work is even better than I recalled.  Didn't notice any Opeth vibes, but I might have to relisten with an ear for that.

I'm on the second to last song and this album kicks all sorts of ass, looks like I'm going to relieve the glory days and do a NOFX discography listen after my Steven Wilson discography listen.

Now that's what we call a balanced diet.

I should prob revisit Bilo 4.0, I recall being quite underwhelmed by it.

Finished my listen to the recent Megadeth releases.

I'd rate their last five releases like this:

1. Endgame
2. TSTD&TD
3. Dystopia
4. Supercollider
5. Thirteen

Gonna hit the TWNAH-TSHF-UA run this week.

The System Has Failed was the one that really made me take notice of Megadeth again.

OK, I hit these in the last two days..

I seem to be going backwards...

Updated rankings

1. Endgame
2. TSTD&TD
3. Dystopia
4. The System Has Failed
5. United Abominations
6. Supercollider
7. The World Needs A Hero
8. Thirteen
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Steven Wilson - Hand Cannot Erase

About half-way through and my feelings for this album this album haven't really changed. It was the first solo record of Steven's that I thought took a dip in quality. The only real saving grace here is Guthrie, I stand by that some of Guthrie's best work was with Steven. That solo in Regret #9 is phenomenal.

Cool album but I've always preferred Fun House - such an intense, but also fun record.

Holy Sh*t!  Early Album of the Year contender right here.  Awesome death-thrash with some Cynic and Voivod influence mixed in.  Some really great riffs all over this album.

Update: I saw nick_z posted this one a page back, but I didn't think to check this out until a friend told me about it yesterday.  So freaking good!  Give this a listen!

Man, I also re-listened to this one recently and I couldn't disagree more - it's his peak as a solo artist. It graciously cuts back on the "nostalgia act" isms of his previous two, and amps up the atmosphere and emotional impact, which is a win-win for me. One thing that surprised me is how good most of the lyrics on it are. Steven's lyrical abilities aren't always that... consistent, but there's some lines on here that hit fucking hard, especially now that I'm older and can relate to the themes of social isolation in adult life more. If Fear Of A Blank Planet resonated with me as an angsty, overtly-depressed teenager, HCE resonates with me where I'm at now. Higher-functioning, but dealing with more complex emotions and experiences that don't have as clear of a source or direction.
