Had the urge to play this at volume, as I realised it's turning 20 this year (fuck I'm old)...

Edit: Fuck! That bit at 1:25 of Megalodon  :hefdaddy

Twenty years!  :o Can't be  I loved this one since the day I've bought it, right when it came out. Still ranks very high.

And  :metal to the bit you mention. That's some fantastic old-school Metallica tribute

I remember hearing I Am Ahab on a Kerrang cover CD in late 2004, which was my first exposure to the band. There was a hell of a buzz around the band but honestly I wasn't in love at first listen with Leviathan. I got it in early 2005 (a year that was honestly so stacked), but it wasn't until Blood Mountain came out that I really started to love them.

Now there's a classic.

Yep, I love it. And to end it that way, with the Reflections/Slippin' Away/Drained sequence...kind of a weird but genius thing to do.

I mean, they kind of stole the idea from Dan Swano :p , but yeah, it's a cool and underused gear shift, particularly back then.

(Last one is Dissimulator - Lower Form Resistance, came out on Friday last week. Very tight, technical thrash metal from Canada. A bit more on the extreme side, there's plenty of great riffage to enjoy here. Vocals are death-ier, except for some "robotic" portions not too dissimilar from Cynic)

@Nick, always good to see Dream Unending make an appearance on this thread :metal also my favourite album by The Faceless, and Crack the Skye is a Top 50 all time album. Leviathan started a Mastodon kick then?

@WebRaider, that Turnstile album is so damn good!

A few from this morning...

Omnerod - Arteries
David Maxim Micic - Bilo 4.0

Omnerod are becoming one of my new favourite bands, and this one may be even better than their latest.

Bilo 4.0 doesn't reach the highs of 3.0 but is easily my second favourite releases from DMM. I love the string arrangements on this album, they mix in a Studio Ghibli-esque feel to his music. Just glorious.

It sure did!  :tup Crack the Skye is my #1 Mastodon. Just fantastic.

I hadn’t listened to Autotheism in a while, and I had kinda forgotten how (relatively) melodic it is, especially the first half. The “suite” even has some Opeth vibes in the riffing, from time to time.

Yes very much so, as he is one of my two greatest inspirations (Jeff Porcaro is the other one), but truthfully, I do enjoy everyone who was on stage with Jeff Beck that day (barring Eric Clapton :D )

Holy shit yes! My all time favourite punk band and (controversial opinion) Wolves in Wolves Clothing is actually my favourite album of theirs. From the first tike I heard Seeing Double at the Triple Rock I knew I'd love this album. El Hefé has some amazing riffs, and songs like USA-Holes, The Man I Killed, Leaving Jesusland, Cool and Unusual Punishment, You Will Lose Faith and Doornails are all time favourites of mine.

I'm on the second to last song and this album kicks all sorts of ass, looks like I'm going to relieve the glory days and do a NOFX discography listen after my Steven Wilson discography listen.
