So, Thursday at work was 1984 albums that haven't aged all that well..

Friday's 1984 albums were much better!

No rhyme or reason today..

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I stumbled across a Helix video the other night.  I knew the name but never heard them.  Fuck it was shit, had a great laugh.  :lol

Holy shit!  That Shadecrown sounds fucking awesome.  Will be spinning that full thing tomorrow!   :metal

Listened to more albums for the first time, I've ordered these from most to least impressive (I liked all of them).

I’m flattered since that third album is mine (thank you so much for listening), but those Coheed albums are top tier man.

You're welcome! I wanted to give it a try, I saw your thread about it and how other users here seemed to really enjoy it. I thought it was pretty cool, and I could definitely hear some influences from the FFO list you made (particularly The Dear Hunter). My main takeaway is that I'm very impressed that you did all of this by yourself. If I didn't have any context of the album's production, I'd have no idea that was the case. I'm not an expert on all the technical bits of music production, but every aspect of it sounded very professional. It was a couple days ago that I first listened to it so my memory's a little hazy on individual songs, but I know I'll be coming back for more listens sooner or later and will try to give some more detailed thoughts about it then.

Haha, I could hear the Coheed albums just fine. ;)  IKSOSE3 felt a little samey until the last few songs, but other than that, no complaints from either album. Certainly better than Catch Thirtythree, in any case. Right now my plan is to listen to a bunch of albums I'm not familiar with at all, and then once my list is clear, I'll go back and look through which albums I want to get to know more. As far as Coheed and Cambria goes, I have four more albums on the list, so I think the odds are favorable that I'll get around to absorbing their albums more.

To be fair, even though Coheed are now my all time favourite band, I wasn't overly impressed with Good Apollo I the first time I heard it. It took time to fully get what they were doing, but when they clicked, boy did they click!

Band name is Vargrav.  Really interesting black metal.  I liked it, but need another listen.

I love them

Back in 84/85, my friend wrote the band a letter, and Helix's bass player replied with a handwritten note. Pretty cool shit, but it probably goes to show how little fan mail they got. :lol

I can't do it, honestly. Gun to my head, I'd say their debut, No Rest For The Wicked. The title track is a good one. I only followed them through their third album Long Way To Heaven. It has a few good songs including their best song, Deep Cuts The Knife.

I don't know anything else they did after that.

Their singer has a cool voice, but there were way to many juvenile songs and lyrics.

I think as far as old school rock/metal bands releasing new songs that are kick ass in the last 15 years, Teutonic Terror has to be near the top.
