Yea, I got a couple tracks left but it's fantastic! I think I saw you mention him a while back so made a note to check him out.

It is quite a toss between that one and Felt as for my favorite of his releases. Such a great artist.

A few older things as I was traveling over the last few days...

A few not quite as old...

(I always enjoy that Paralydium album. I mean, it's as classic prog(gish) power as it gets, but everything works so well. I like that it combines a Symphony X influence with Nothern European melodic rock sensibilities...great vocals too)

...and a couple of recent ones:

At the Plates is the first (and only) 2024 album I sampled so far...we briefly discussed it in the Friday Releases thread. Yes, the concept is silly (although it does make me chuckle), but musically this is...not silly  I've already given it a couple of listens. Highly enjoyable death metal.

Helga is a 2023 release, only found out about it at the VERY end of it, and it was probably the most listened-to album of the last week of the year  ;) From Sweden, the band name is from the singer. Think maybe a more "rock" Sylvaine, at times driven by guitars, at times more folky/ethereal. The ending of Burden is not terribly far from, say, The Cranberries.  Only a couple of spots with black-ish vocals. To be honest, it's almost like she wanted to do a "token" thing with those...it's really maybe 1 minute total over a couple of songs - Farval is the one tune that overall has more of an extreme metal influence. The ending of Sum en Trumma is the other one. The album is VERY good, imo. The usual suspects (yes, Litho, I'm looking at you ) might enjoy this one.

Stallion are like an old school thrash speed metal kind a thing with old school ACDC rock bits thrown in here and there.  Ripping vocals, really cool stuff.

This Blade Killer sounds like the album that would have come after Killers if Dianno stayed on, really impressive.  Hopefully another album at some point.

Dust Bolt are some modern thrash which I really enjoyed a lot.  Will be following up on their other albums.

I'm really liking this Satan's Fall album too.  Another one I'll have to follow up on their debut.

This has been kind of a holy grail album find for me.  Every time I'd hunt for it I couldn't find it in the past, but I got lucky this time.  The ratings on it are unreasonably unfair.  It's Ayreon-lite, with corny lyrics (but perhaps apropos given the theme) but is still a delight to hear three of my favorite vocalists (Marjan Welman, Damian Wilson, Marcela Bovio) interact, also with appearances from Marcel Coenen and Arjen himself.

Haha, you have a way of name-dropping the right words to pique my interest, and then if that was too subtle, just flat out sent the bat signal.  Definitely have to check this out it sounds like.

Yeah, that impression may not stick, but it's what I thought of. It wasn't a real dedicated sit down listen though, which I will do.
