Always enjoyed this one. It was a drop in quality after Wasting Light (but that one is, for me, one of Foo's best records, period) and it was a little too wrapped up in its each-song-a-different-city concept, but overall it rocks.

Some 2023 releases which should result in some decisions for my year list. Working from home in these weeks results in at least 6-8 hours of music a day which is a good thing.

Night Verses - Every Sound Has A Color In The Valley Night: Part 1
Modder - The Great Liberation Through Hearing

Still recommend that Mayfire album for this forum.

Night Verses and Hexvessel are late discoveries for me that I really enjoy.

I'm normally super-picky about this sort of dissonant/avant-garde extreme metal.  Somehow this just hits the right spot.  This is part of why you run roulettes, to find things that you otherwise might have overlooked.  Hat tip to Nachtmerrie for sending a track from the album from the prior year.  Definitely in the same vein, kind of Lovecraftian-sounding stuff.

Another really solid late year contender.  Probably not enough time to give it its due, but this was surprisingly good.  Someone described it as being black metal with hints of Viva Emptiness-era Katatonia, and wow, they're not wrong.  Moreso the 10th anniversary expanded version with a fuller sound and lusher instrumentation.

In all my years on this forum, for some reason nobody's ever sent me a Peter Gabriel song in a roulette, thus I gave his last album a chance. Interesting stuff, Playing for Time is great, and the rest of the album is cool so far.
