Nice! A Sense of Change is probably my favorite Sieges Even. Steps is a tough nut to crack, but it’s a pretty fascinating listen.

Speaking of, um, being "inspired" by classic bands...I was in the mood for some well-done Maiden worship today:



I really enjoy these. I know there's an inescapable aura of "tribute band" here, but I think they have just enough of their own flair to stand on their own feet. In fact, they seem to have enough talent that I hope they'll spread their wings a bit more in the future. Or maybe that's not something they are interested in, who knows  ;)

(Abel & Cain from Olympus is SO good, though! Punchy and catchy)

I know you said it was Maiden Worship but I wasn't expecting one of the best Bruce impersonators I've ever heard lol.

As you said definitely talented but I would love to see them mix it up a bit more.

A couple of recent (2021 and 2022) albums today:



They are both SO good. Different, in a way, but both great examples of how you can play classic metal and be fresh and inventive. And thanks to Tim for introducing Seven Sisters here (as far as I know, at least). This is my favorite albums of theirs, so I'm really curious what they cook up next.

(The CD version of the Trial album is nicely rounded off by a couple of cool covers, Fleetwood Mac's Sister of the Moon and Sabbath's Die Young. I guess they were part of a separate EP)

I was pimping Trial for a bit too. I think they're really unique. Their album, 2017's Motherless is awesome and it's the one where I got into them.

And that Seven Sisters album is amazing.

Trowsholm-s/t

Real folky metal. Somewhat harsh vocals, but more viking like. Kind of jokey in parts.. Really melodic solos and a smattering of female vocals in the back half of the album. Really easy on the ears and enjoyable.
