Oops, I had missed a few records from Charly, let's see...
Charly García Parte de la Religión
Very good album, quite pop but feels more refined than the previous albums in the production, and some songs are simply epic.
Charly García Cómo conseguir chicas
Wasn't expecting much given the title ("How to get ladies"), but I'm quite pleased - another great, great pop album. Influences of Funk and Synthpop, pretty spacey and somewhat atmospheric.
Charly García / Pedro Aznar Tango
A short collab with his good friend Pedro, of Serú Girán. And no, it's not tango music, but a very good Synthpop EP instead. I already knew
Hablando a tu corazón from the radio and whatnot, but rediscovering it here was a pleasant surprise.
Spinetta Un Mañana
Hmnnn in some regard his final studio album is a step above the previous efforts, which I had found a bit dull tbh, and I'll prob need to revisit it a few times, but I liked the diverse use of synths, and string and piano arrangements.
Charly just couldn't be stopped back in the 70s when he made Prog, and in the 80s his shift to New Wave only gave us many amazing, very memorable records. What a legend. Spinetta had higher highs in my opinion, but after the 80s his work was all over the place, not always in a good way. Still, for such a massive catalogue, the amount of iconic tunes he made is staggering. I'm close to finishing my way through his discography, and although it's been a bit rough at times, it's just been a very rewarding experience. I think I definitely need to make a thread or something about Latin American music with all of these discoveries, from a native's perspective. Once I'm done with my roulette (which should begin this week), that is
