Sorceress is the one that moves me the least.

Same but I still like it.

Sorceress is the one that moves me the least.

I really like Heritage and Pale Communion, but Sorceress was much less interesting.

I never heard the last album they released.

of the post Heritage records i find PC to be the weakest, and their newest one to be the strongest. Sorceress is fine

OK, let's get into this...

Storm Corrosion, I think I've only listened to it two or three times, but I'll give it another go tonight. I remember liking it, but not enough to revisit it, obviously.

With Opeth *These are purely my opinions, and not the opinions of DTF. Take them with a pinch of salt, or tell me to go fuck myself*...

  • Heritage is the weakest of the post-Watershed albums.
  • Watershed is actually the second best Opeth album so everything that has come after it, Heritage in particular, is sub par.
  • Pale Communion is leagues ahead of Heritage and restored my faith in the band.
  • Sorceress is better still, it has the one heavy riff (you know, the one they marketed the whole album on, teasing a return to heavy Opeth) as well as a song that could be on a freaking Final Fantasy game. Great album.
  • In Cauda Venenum is the best post-Watershed album and is this weirdly dark and ominous record, whilst also being really quirky, plus you can listen to the whole thing in Swedish.
  • My Arms, Your Hearse is actually the overrated album and Demon of the Fall isn't even that good.
  • Morningrise is better than MAYH.
  • Orchid is better than Morningrise.
  • Still Life is an incredible album, which we can all agree on.
  • Blackwater was a stepping stone to the greatness to come on Ghost Reveries and Watershed.
  • Deliverance is mid.
  • Damnation is the best post-Watershed album that isn't post-Watershed.
  • Ghost Reveries? More like GOAT Reveries.

  • Wrong.
  • Correct on Watershed being their second-best album, everything else is wrong.
  • Wroooooong.
  • Sorceress is better than Pale Communion, yes.
  • It's good, but no.
  • Nope.
  • *pukes*
  • Maybe. Low bar.
  • Overrated.
  • No.
  • No.
  • It's good, but no.
  • No, also overrated.

I'll bite:

  • Agreed
  • I like Watershed, but definitely not second-best for me
  • I like Pale Communion better than Heritage, yes
  • I'm fond of Sorceress. It's not an unbelievably great album or anything, bit it's good. More or less same level as PC, although quite different style-wise
  • Overall, I think I can agree with that
  • Kinda agree. I like but don't love MAYH
  • Many many many times yes to this. LOVE Morningrise
  • Not for me. Morningrise was a big step up, imo
  • Yep, probably my #1
  • Mmmh, not sure. It's not even about which one I like best. I just feel BwP was already very much a "point of arrival", if that makes any sense
  • A few years ago I'd have said the same thing. Turns out it's one of their albums that has grown on me the most
  • I only know I love Damnation :)
  • Certainly in the running for my favorite Opeth album too, with BWP and SL

I actually love Blackwater Park and it is only a hair behind Ghost Reveries and Watershed. I was being provocative for the sake of it :lol

Nick, you are mainly right. Buddy, you, like Luke Skywalker in the Last Jedi, are a huge disappointment.

Swap Ghost Reveries with MAYH and that'd be my top three as well, so hey, your opinion could be worse.

Good man!

Every fan of extreme metal on the forum needs to here this record, especially the Worm tracks. They have such a weird, spacey, atmospheric yet melodic feel that I can't really describe. I just love the guitar tone. Yea, just check it out.

 :rollin

Taking advantage of the hook:

This is common around here.
I have often seen album covers that are not easily identifiable because:

1) The band logos are illegible (very common in extreme metal bands).

2) The cover art does not show the name of the band and/or album (example: Harmony Codex by SW*).

If the intention is to share what you are listening to as a form of suggestion to others, it would be interesting to practice writing the names of artists/albums when this is not clear from the cover alone.

* I know that most people here know how to recognize that it is a SW album, it is just one example!

Yeah I personally share the album name if it's not clear on the cover itself
