Another new discovery, another new heavy prog album to hit me out of nowhere in the last month. This one is a female fronted band with some amazing performances and outstanding production values (mixed by Rob Aubrey who does Big Big Train and just keeps outdoing himself). Really fresh and exciting stuff with a lot of diversity.

Clean vocal classic metal

Not reinventing the wheel, but very easy on the ears.

Just stumbled upon this amazing proggy folk album, Mundi Domini's self-titled.  Largely instrumental, but some light vocals here and there.  Very intricate and beautiful, some unusual flavors here and there.

Today's TACommendation:

Fires In The Distance-Air Not Meant For Us

Was going through some of the harsh vocal albums that I had Saved but had not had a chance to circle back to. This album is fantastic. Long sweeping instrumental passages that are so soothing.
Check it out!!

I enjoyed it when it came out, but didn't end up getting super-excited about it. It has some lovely atmosphere, with those swirling keys/synths, but it almost feels like one long song. Or so I remember. I know it was very well received here on DTF. And now that it has a TACcommendation too, I guess I need to revisit  ;)

Oh, this sounds nice. After your Advent Horizon rec, I need to check this out too...

Huh. I don't remember seeing it here, but I probably wasn't paying attention. I'm just circling back to things I sampled and saved. Gave it a second spin tonight. I like it.

I sampled this one too for the 2023 round.  It was decent but I need to go back to it.

Only a few songs in but the vocals sound a lot like Bono in some spots.

This is not a new album, is it?

I was a pretty big fan of the debut and, to a slightly lesser extent, their third album Nude. They had a pretty cool sound.

Don't think it's their new album. Spotify has it listed as a 2006 release.

Time Machine (the opener to Royal Thunder's Crooked Doors) would probably make a top-something songs from the last ten years for me. An incredible song (I sent it in 2 out of 3 roulettes I participated in so, yeah, I like it  ;)). But the whole album is really great.

Any fans of Sahg? I have a couple of their albums, and this is from 2013. Kinda doomy, classic sound (but very dynamic)...some Sabbath, for sure (some shades of Ozzy in the vocals), maybe a dash of Crack the Skye-era Mastodon (the opener has Oblivion vibes)...neat little album.

Then this:

Somehow I've slept on it until now despite the few mentions here on DTF (and having liked their previous stuff). Well, one listen in and I thought it was great. Let's see if it sticks (it's kinda long) but wow there are some bangers in here (Monster in Paradise!)

No, you are the one I didn't send it to  Not sure, it could go either way. But do check the opener at least, it's especially special.

I have to give the Moonlight Sorcery a proper listen. Witch Ripper is super-tasty. I don't think I've listened to Blackscape. Does it come with a TACcommendation?
