Yeah, Spiritual Beggars are pretty great...Michael Amott's playing is so freakin' good...The Mantra III/Ad Astra/On Fire run is excellent.

So, Shadows of the Sun is your favorite Ulver? I prefer when they are a little more "song-oriented", but it's a fascinating listen, for sure. I find it very..."elegant", for lack of a better descriptor. Different from anything else they've done, even within their non-metal phase.

And that's my second-favorite album from last year! So many great songs.

I've admittedly tried getting into more Cave In albums and none of them have appealed to me anywhere near as much as this one did. White Silence definitely came closest, there's some absolute ragers on there, but it's very short and the last three songs are... bizarre. :lol Mutoid Man has some good stuff too and they honestly sound closer to Heavy Pendulum than some other Cave In albums.

Came out today...I had quite enjoyed their previous record, and this new one sounds good on first listen. A little less heavy, maybe (with the exception of One for Sorrow, which is quite doomy), but engaging throughout. In places, dare I say it has some Ghost vibes...?

It's in my playlist for today, as I really enjoyed their last, but I've not gotten to it yet.
