Honestly my least favorite kind of death metal vocal and it's why I avoided the genre for so long because I thought that's what every band would sound like lol.

Yeah, I mean, this particular style is admittedly a bit hard to stomach

A couple more:

Speaking of (more classic) death metal, the Begravement album came out a couple of months ago (I think). Came across it and it's an impressive slab of death metal that seems to conjure all of sorts of cool influences from the classics into a neat package. A bit long, maybe, but the impression after a listen is pretty high quality.

Ural's Psychoverse is thrash metal from Italy. Fun listen too. There's a bit of that crossover influence especially in the vocals, but then as the album goes on, it becomes a little more classic. There's one song, "Uncanny Valley", that sounds like a slightly thrashified version of Armored Saint, or maybe a Belladonna-era Anthrax song if it was sung by John Bush...? Something like that

Now this I had to hear!

The guy does sound like a mix between Joey's voice and John's phrasings.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

@Twosuits LUKE! Loving this. Nice introduction to both bands. Both excellent! So dark and beautiful! When I'm in the mood for old Amorphis, this fits right in.  :metal

Yea dude, it's really good. Make sure you check out Bluenothing by Worm and Songs of Salvation by Dream Unending.

Have to check this out, for sure...

Glasser, I'd also add "Foreverglade", by Worm (it's their most recent album "proper", as Bluenothing is, I think, considered an EP). Great death/doom with some killer lead guitar.

Nick, I'm absolutely looking into all of their stuff for sure! Thanks!  :tup

Quote
It’s a shame that Hats was never a hit, but it also would have been a shame if it were. It’s hard to imagine being confronted by these songs in the wild. It seems inappropriate to even listen to it in the daytime. You carve out a place to hear Hats; you confide it in other people. An oft-repeated legend about the band involves Paul Buchanan at a Glasgow bar shortly after the release of their debut album. As he downs a few pints among the locals, the conversation turns to music, and someone recommends him a great new band from the area. They’re called the Blue Nile, they say. You’ll love them, I’ve got their tape in my car.

The anecdote illustrates the overarching philosophy for Buchanan’s art, to be removed from it completely. “[Y]ou hope that someday in the future some kid will be walking along the beach and find a little piece of green glass that has been worn down by the waves,” he once explained to The Sydney Morning Herald. “He’ll pick it up and put it in his pocket, take it home and love it. He won’t necessarily know why he loves it, but he’ll love it. Those are the kind of records we try to make.” In another version of this metaphor, he relates a boy and a girl watching a film on their first date: “They are much more important to each other, hopefully, than the movie is to either one of them.”

Yeah Artaud is fucking awesome, such a great Folk Rock album - imagine making a record like this at age 23 wtf. Also for some reason it's been gaining lots of traction lately in some circles, as in, there are like 10 new ratings for this on RYM every day now. Despite it being half a century old now, it's still relevant and I just love that.

The other two records are mid tbh. I know Canción Animal is legendary and such, but it's not grabbing me - seems I just like Soda's last 2 records, which are very good.

Wardruna - Runaljod – Ragnarok.  Been meaning to check out more of their work for awhile, given that they're a huge inspiration for some other bands I like, particularly Chelsea Wolfe.  It's inspired by Lethean sending Einar Selvik's collaboration with Ivar Bjørnson in my roulette.  Could be manifold reasons why, but this hit me much more immediately than Runaljod – gap var Ginnunga, which I heard a few years ago.  I like the atmosphere of this better than more typical pagan/tribal neofolk/dark folk sort of bands.  "Isa", "MannaR - Drivande" and "Runaljod" were instant standouts.

If I were to remake my top 50 now, this would be somewhere in the top 30, at least. Just gets better with each listen.

Looks like Death from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey...

Blink-182's self-titled album was one of the most important albums to me. I loved the music, the videos, the bands look/style, it was the full package for me and I still adore it.

I've given the new one about 4 spins so far. It's good, and I'm enjoying it way more than their last. I do hear the issues with the mix, but in the whole it's better than I expected a year ago.

What did you think dude?

I bought a handpan of sorts a few years ago to add to my collection of instruments, but for some reason haven't systematically looked for artists specializing in them.  This is a great addition, very hypnotic and relaxing.

Not a big fan of the vocals due to the autotune but outside of that I really like it. Most of the songs are really catchy.

This cover art looks eerily similar to the Victory over the Sun album…?

Read good things about this…not a genre that’s normally in my wheelhouse, but I’m curious to check this out
