How long is your commute?

From door to door, if trains cooperate, 1:45/1:50 each way...

So you spend 3.5-4 hours a day on a train?? Wow!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Inspired by the favorite album of 1991 thread. Listening to my favorite from that year.

I love them, great album.

Well, the train part is only about an hour each way…then there’s the driving to the station and the walking to the office when I’m in in NYC. It’s when you add everything up that it gets long :)

Damn, that's a lot. I wouldn't mind this every once in a while, but not all the time! I won't say how long my commute is :lol

So, inspired by the 'top albums from 1991' thread, I'm listening to a lot of death metal today, starting with this...

What do the good people at DTF - that are also At the Gates fans - think of their comeback album, At War With Reality? I've always enjoyed it. Nothing particularly groundbreaking, to be sure. They played it relatively safe and it was always bound to be bit anti-climatic after so many years (and given Slaughter of the Soul - like it or not - turned out to be a scene-setter of sorts). But, for the most part, the tunes are there.

And Beneath the Remains - nothing new here, but what a beast of an album. LOVE Kisser's guitar on this one.

Also, one from this year:

Sludgy metal with some twists. I had checked this out back when it came out a few months ago, and it didn't really stick. For some reason, I went back to it and I'm quite enjoying it now. It can be pretty heavy at times, but it also has some interesting forays into "alternative" territory. A good example is the song "What a Way to Go"...it even has blastbeats, and the vocals can be quite harsh, but then it opens up to an excellent melodic chorus. The final run of songs is great too, with a(n almost) ballad to close the proceedings. Luke - this might have potential for you (might  :))

It's fine, it just pales in comparison to SotS.  Surgical Steel was the better comeback album.

I haven't listened to it in a few years, but I completely agree with Litho about Surgical Steel and Slaughter of the Soul. Tbf though Slaughter is the only AtG album I really dig. It's head and shoulders above the rest.

Yes to Surgical Steel! That was a satisfying comeback for sure.

I have a fondness for early AtG too but, yes, Slaughter is where it’s at. Although the studio tracks on Terminal Spirit Disease make for an excellent companion set. Some of my favorite songs from the band in there.

Speaking of Sufjan, I've been spinning his most recent album Javelin lately. It's a really powerful record.

DT - Black Clouds & Silver Linings

I forgot how much I enjoyed that album when it came out. Listening to the The Count of Tuscany it feels easy to say the MP-era ended on a very high level.

When we do the top 100 DT songs ranking, the songs from this album are gonna be pretty high. Love this record.
