Rorcal - Silence

Saw these guys live yesterday @Soulcrusher festival. Brutal performance. A crushing blend of post, black and doom.

Listened to a couple of songs from their latest album and I was intrigued...this reminds me I need to go back to it.

As for the last couple of days, a few Friday releases:

As mentioned in the other thread, I'm really liking the Vanishing Kids' album (Miracle of Death)

...and a random pick from 2022 - Hell Fire, "Reckoning":

Vaguely thrashy classic metal...quite an entertaining listen, actually.

Super pumped for new Blink-182 this week, so spinning a lot of their music and side projects. Man, this album holds so much nostalgia for me and takes me right back to 2004. Such a great record and has some of my favorite Travis drumming.

Yeah I'm just more and more convinced that Argentinian Prog was something else - these albums are quite old at this point yet they feel fresh to my ears. Although Charly's output has been extremely consistent so far, I feel that Spinetta has had higher highs, but also lower lows. No bad albums, just records that I didn't vibe with. It is now my duty to educate y'all on this awesome music and send it on roulettes and such ;D

I couldn't get to play some of the best stuff due to the blocking issues, but don't worry, I'll find a way to make y'all listen to this, like you make everyone try King Gizz ;D

Do so! Spirit of Eden is wonderful, and very different to their previous Pop sound you love so much.

High-quality album for Sentenced to finish their run, for sure...and what a "final" song with End of the Road (good pick, Litho!)...shame what happened to Miika Tenkula, though.

Quick note on the Threnody album - I kinda forgot how much I like this one. Dutch band, this album is from 1995. It has a sound that vaguely resembles Erase-era Gorefest. Some late-career Death vibes too. Really cool. It's generally death metal, but the tempo is never particularly fast. The drumming is excellent, very tasteful. In fact, speaking of Gorefest, I'd say it's very Ed Warby-like. The guitar work too...never flashy, but lots of good, melodic leads, and the two guitars have a neat way of working off each other in the riffs.

Serú Girán Grasa de las Capitales
Yeah this record is just so original and fresh, real good late 70s prog.

Spinetta Kamikaze
Damn, it keeps growing with each listen - despite it being an acoustic album, with mostly a guitar and vocals, and the occasional piano, it's exceptionally well-written. So beautiful.

Soda Stereo Nada Personal
Hmmnn a slight improvement over their debut for sure, but still not that memorable to me.

Sacul that Spinetta album seems right up my alley, I'm going to give it a spin.

Currently listening to Battles - Mirrored and this album isn't for me. I'm about halfway through and I really don't dig it.

Sure! Let me know if you dig it - it's a slow burn for sure, but a rewarding one.

Yeah I wasn't into that band either, can't seem to enjoy any of their records.

How long is your commute?

From door to door, if trains cooperate, 1:45/1:50 each way...
