Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Seems to be a lot of King Diamond getting posted at the moment (I’m obviously all for it), I assume it’s because we’re coming into spooky season.

I'm going to do a spooky playlist thread towards the end of this month.  I probably need to revisit a couple of his albums, I remember there being some stuff on them that would work for it.

Some stuff?

Creepier, Halloween-y sections.

Nick, between this and Sentenced you've sent me back down this spiral.   ;D   I've known this was my favorite of theirs, but I haven't listened to either in a few years now and I'm really enjoying this nostalgia.  I wish this specific sort of sound was still around, but it seems to have mostly vanished.

Finally got my last Wucan album to round out my collection. This one came from Switzerland in 7 days!

Have heard some of these on the live album and finally getting to hear the studio versions. Can't stop listening to this band.

beul ni teh efac = Lube In The Face / That has to be wrong.  :lol / EDIT: Oh, it's Blue! I'm an idiot.
Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

I hear ya…wish that was the case too. As I mentioned a few times here, records like this one were just part of the sheer joy of musical discovery around that mid-90s period…good stuff…

Indeed! Especially the first and the third (I like The Dark too, but it's a notch below for me...)

Yea I'm really digging it. It's my first time ever exploring Jeff Beck. I love the guests too.

I liked their most recent one (A Poetry of Rain) very much.  This one, not AS much, but still enjoyable.

So many of the best bands start out as doom/death of some kind and this helps them make mellower, beautiful music later on.

Yes, this is a great one. I don't love it quite as much as Alternative 4 (which is my favorite Anathema), but it's up there. The loss of Duncan Patterson as a songwriter was felt a bit, I think (things didn't sound as...desperate, after he left  ;)). Deep is a top, top song.

I actually somewhat prefer the most recent albums, at least partially because I really like the Vincent/Lee vocal dynamic, but the mid-era is my second favorite, and Alternative 4 is definitely on the same level as Judgment for me.

Essence of Datum - Radikal Rats

Random new release of the day  (for me, at least)

This was a lot of fun. Instrumental proggish metal from Belarus. I read their previous material is a little more extreme but I haven't heard any of that. This one is very melodic. Think Nuclear Power Trio, but with slightly less guitar pyrotechnics (although the playing is GREAT) and a healthy serving of synthwave influence (check out the opener Supersonic Soul Injector and Universe 25, for example!). The closer, Rodent Rebellion is so good too.

Nothing groundbreaking, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Wow, going deep in some Italian prog rock/metal, I see! Haven't listened to them in a while, but I remember enjoying their second album, "Brightleaf"
