on first listen i didn't love it and feared it might be her Chloe and the Next 20th Century, but after a second spin i think it's just a bit subdued - which is fine! really enjoying it now

Yea, it’s good right?! It’s very unlikely to make my top 10, but possibly top 30. I’ll give it a second listen later but I throughly enjoyed it :metal

This year I’ve checked out more new death metal than any other year ever.

I need to revisit their other albums.  The Colour and the Shape is incredible, but the others never really hooked me, though it's been ages since I've heard them.

Definitely a different vibe than her recent output, but I liked it a lot.

Nice surprise this one, I went in with zero expectations but it might be the best Alkaloid album I’ve heard. It covers a surprising amount of metal sub genres, whilst still predominantly remaining progressive metal.

The album cover caught my eye so I gave this a go. I’m not super into fully instrumental bands but this had enough variety in there to keep my interest. I’ll probably give it another go in a weeks time or something :tup

I periodically promote his daughter Aziza, but he essentially created the style of jazz she plays in and surpassed him in, yet his own albums are masterful and just feel right for this time of the year.

Second listen in and I’m liking this album a lot. If you enjoy beautiful metal music, I recommend this one. I would qualify them as shoegaze although they don’t use this tag.
