Well according to my last.fm I’ve only been able to make through two other Swans albums. This new one is kinda hypnotic, but at the same time can be quite tedious. I’m sure on repeated listens more would stick in my brain but I’ve got enough to listen to without devoting that much time to a band that probably aren’t just wholly for me.

Yep. Put me in the "absolutely do not get" camp. And I like some weird stuff that most other people don't get :dunno:

Same  :metal

Say what you want about this album, but it has some classic songs that only Slayer could pull off (looking at you Dittohead).

One of my favorite Slayer albums. Dittohead, Circle of Beliefs, SS-3, and Mind Control SLAY, pun intended. 213 also gives off a magnificently creepy vibe.

I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to Divine Intervention. Decades.
Actually, I bought it when it came out and saw them on this tour, the last time I saw Slayer.

My feeling back then was that I really thought they missed Lombardo. I thought Bostaph was excellent, but Lombardo's sound was integral to Slayer. Listening again (I gave it a 2nd spin!), the drums parts are very Lombardo-ish, but it still lacks his sound. Still, this has been a great rediscovery!!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Bostaph is too technical a drummer for Slayer.  Forbidden suits him much better.  Lombardo's looser feel just works better for Slayer.

Kind of like Portnoy vs Mangini where with one, you can just feel the groove.

DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ - Destiny

Ok, let's try this, 4 hours of House music, could be awesome, could be meh. Let's go.
I'm listening to this in short batches, so rn I'm in song 16 out of 41, and it's pretty good actually! Some tracks could be a little shorter, but so far it's quite a varied and fun album.

Portnoy. I love Mangini but MP is my preference.

I love this album.

It’s pretty low key, but there are some really nice moments on it.

Who has heard Tapping Into the Emotional Void, and it’s striking similarity to Enter Sandman (well the intro at least)?

Blut Aus Nord / Disharmonium - Nahab
On first listen this sounds more agressive and blackened compared to the last one and somehow comparable with Deus Salutis Meae.
Unique band.

Lots of VERY tasty albums! Of the newer ones, the latest Spirit Adrift confirms how consistently good they are and the Tanith, well, as you know it's one of my favorites of the year so far. Come An' Get It and Ready An' Willing are among my favorite Whitesnake records.

This is their first EP, right? I don't think I've ever checked it out...

A few recent releases (more than a bit of randomness):

Other than Horrendous, it's one listen for each, so these are just first impressions...(the Horrendous album is growing on me, by the way...it's a bit "messy" but there's some pretty amazing stuff on it)

Orbit Culture - Descent: Kinda modern and groovy, with some heavy, cinematic synths. Great vocals, both aggressive and more melodic (in an almost Heltfeld-ian way). Not generally my go-to, but I've enjoyed it
Horrendous: see above
Bottomless - The Banishing: Real nice classic doom from Italy. The singer from Messa, um, doesn't sing here but she plays bass. Vocals are not super-impressive, but they work ok and the songs move along great. Will definitely revisit.
Course of Fate - Somnium: classic prog metal here. Not mindblowing, but well done. And I thought the closer sounded quite good.
Asphodelus - Sculpting from Time: this sounds straight from early to mid-90s...that more..."ethereal"... gothic doom sound. Vocally it reminds me of Clouds-era Tiamat at times
Vision Master - Sceptre: This has a bit of an old school feel. They sure have some manic energy going. Like (very) early Blue Oyster Cult mixed with Voivod (?). Kinda cool, but need to revisit to see if it sticks.
Spanish Love Songs - No Joy: I enjoyed this one. It's this earnest, almost indie, at times new-wavish pop sound I need to be in the mood for, but first impression is really good. Sometimes they remind me of early Gaslight Anthem with less Springsteen influence.
Triple Kill - Blackened Dawn: Thrashy power? I found it to be a fun listen, will probably revisit.
