The Shivas - Covers Vol. 2
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

An Abstract Illusion - Woe
Albums like this make me love this thread. Listened to it last year but if disappeared of my radar.

Rannoch - Conflagrations
First listen and it sounds like another homerun after Reflections Upon Darkness. This has all everything I'm looking for in a progressive death album. Technical as hell, brutal riffs, great melody and a lot of variety.

Further:
Leprous - Maline
Meshuggah - ObZen

Oh cool, I wasn’t aware they had a new one out. I quite liked their last, so will get on this.

Also, King Gizzard update please good sir.

Spinning your list tomorrow while working from home. A lot of driving with unexpected traffic jams today. Death metal works better for me then :metal

did not care for conflagrations as much tbh  :lol it's alright but doesn't feel as ambitious as the last one & the riffs got a bit djentier it feels like. not bad but i won't be returning to it much

I have loved that Decoryah album since 1995. It's a rough, imperfect gem. The production is what it is, but it's such a unique record. It's like Spleen and Ideal/Within the Realm of a Dying Sun-era Dead Can Dance played by a gothic/doom band.

On a different note - any fans of Jimmy Eat World here? I have been for a few years, and I have always found their 2019 album (latest, as of today) Surviving to be very good, continuing a solid return to form after Integrity Blues (imo)

Also: The Enigma Division is one of the prog-adjacent albums I've enjoyed the most this year, so far. I don't know that the closer needs to be that long, but this is very tasty nonetheless.

Bought a ticket to these girl's show in a few weeks, and finally got around to digging into their new album. Very, very impressive hard rock, should be a solid show.

I really like JEW, my favorite albums of theirs are the run of Clarity, Bleed American, and Futures. Their new one didn't really do much for me.

Yes, Bleed American and Futures are fantastic. For me, they only hit a bit of a lull with Invented and Damage (not bad at all, just not as many highlights as in other records).

Damage is the only post Clarity album I'm  not so keen on.
