(Fleshvessel - Yearning: Promethean Fates Sealed)

well i can't say this is the coolest metal album i've heard all year but it's immediately striking prog/avant-garde black metal and i am digging the hell out of it. i voidhanger is the best metal label out there i s2g  :lol

This kinda was on my radar when I was looking at today's releases. Not because I had any idea or knowledge of the band, but it sounded intriguing. Now that you are confirming, I'll check this out  :)

(btw, are these teeth, or nails at the edge of that chasm?  :biggrin:)

interesting one. starts off like, really mellow ambient djent-prog and then the longer it goes on the heavier it gets, a lotta straight-up death metal on the last track  :lol intrigued by this for sure

oh this is some primo luke/train-core. techy prog sludge, kinda intronaut-y with less focus on basslines i guess? liked it more than i would've expected tho idk if i LOVED it

I'm loving the Voyager record more with each listen. It's so well-crafted and catchy, and they are still totally doing their thing. Mutoid Man, as I mentioned in the Friday thread - cool record, I'm enjoying it. And the Nuclear Power Trio! Wow. How much fun was that?  :) The performances are stellar!

The Voyager didn’t do a great deal for me at all. I have sampled 4 Voyager albums now but nothing has stuck, I guess they’re just not for me. Mutoid Man is pretty fun for what it is, nothing game changing but a fun jaunt.

I didn’t realise NPT’s new one was out already, I’ll get on that tonight!

Yeah, all the Voyager's albums I've heard really hit the spot for me. I guess, especially now, they are not the only ones to combine that kind of chunky riffage with 80s-style synths and vocals but, man, they do it so well (and they were early movers anyway  ;)). I still have to explore their pre-Meaning of I records.

Yep, NPT is out! I had read the occasional reference here on DTF but hadn't checked out their previous EP. Again - the album is a ton of fun, for sure.

Glad you are enjoying it. An Abstract Illusion is one of the best Proggy Technical Death Metal bands to come out in the last 10 years. Definitely give their first album a listen as well, it's my favorite of the two, but really they are both basically 5/5 albums.

the first album isn't quite as good IMO but skeletons of light is probably the best song between the two, love that one so much

I actually just spun it for the first time about a week ago.  I like Woe better but the first album was amazing also.  Gotta check the EP next.
