You know, I've never really listened to them. I've heard the odd song over the years, and I know The Badge through the Pantera cover, but never listened to a whole album. I'll queue this up  :metal

Great recommendation Nick, this is some fantastic, melodic, really well executed black metal.  Will be diving more into later Dimmu.

You know, I'm not super familiar....I know I have Death Cult Armageddon and even that one I haven't listened to in quite some time...but yeah, chronological order makes sense. I might do that too...

From what I heard myself and have read over time, it looks like they struggled to be truly consistent...I mean, they had better and better production/budgets (clearly, at some point, they were a big priority within Nuclear Blast's roster), but the songwriting got a little "emptier".

Again, though, I haven't consistently followed what they've done throughout the years...

Haha, I actually think he sounds fucking awesome on that one.  The production really helps the highs in his vocals here for some reason for me.

Definitely the best way to go. I said it before but Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is hands down my favourite, and leagues above the rest. I might work my way through their catalogue over the next few weeks as well.

Yea, I'm digging this. To my ears, the best way to describe this is kinda Cynic meets Dir en Grey with some metalcore/post-hardcore thrown in. Oh also some BTBAM and Dillinger Escape Plan (although not sure that's because I've been spinning them a fair bit recently).

Tim, I just stumbled across one of their videos on YouTube and didn't mind it, especially the solo.  I really like this album and their diverse style.  I'd never really heard of them before.  Will be checking out more.

The solo in Warmonger is just  :metal
