From the last few days...
A few recent releases:
The middle one is Oak - "Disintegrate"...from Portugal, a (side?) project from members of Gaerea. It's a single, 42-minute song of black-influenced doom. A bit daunting, but on first listen there were a good number of intense moments. The Unto Others release is an EP with outtakes from Strength (I guess they had released this on vinyl last year for Record Store Day and made it available for streaming last week). As usual, this is good stuff, very much in line with the material on that album. There is an interesting Scorpions cover, Passion Rules the Game, which actually works quite well with their style.
Plus some other random listens:
Man, the Katatonia album is so good. Very, very happy with it. Also did a little revisit of Last Fair Day Gone Night - the audio. Excellent live album. My favorite Of theirs played in full, and a tasty selection from their discography. Great growls from Jonas on Brave, by the way
I pimped the Ormskrik album on these pages before, and I'm doing it again
Such a great blackened thrash record. It has riffs, grooves and it's just so dynamic, with twists and turns even within the songs.
Glasser - I know you do enjoy some thrash - do you know these guys?
