Scorpions- Blackout

UFO - The Wild, The Willing & The Innocent

Saxon - Power & Glory

Excellence!

I honestly hadn’t given these albums the attention they deserve. They are all awesome and will be in rotation a lot more.

I got into ...And Justice For All at the beginning of this month, and while I haven't listened to it non-stop, it hasn't really left my listening rotation either. This is the kind of album I like to call a perennial classic; I can turn it on no matter how many times I've heard it and I'll still get lots of enjoyment from it. Really good album from start to finish!

In high school this was a hands down favorite. I think now I prefer Puppets and Lightning. But this one is so killer. Not a bad spot on it.

I've no idea where this recommendation came from but holy shit this album is cool.

So it's progressive death metal but it sounds way more like classic 80s death metal than your usual prog death. It's got the classic old school death metal vocals. It's prog elements include some jazzy break downs and a few bits that are a bit Rush-esque.

Throw in a sci-fi album cover and lyrics and you've pretty much got me by the balls. This is worth checking out.

It was 1974 at work today!

Epitaph is the only one I've never heard...owned all the others except the Scorpions.

'Desolation Boulevard':  I'll assume its the UK version (minus 'Ballroom Blitz').  Boy, did Capitol butcher their versions over here, just as bad as The Beatles. And it wasn't released outside of Europe until 1975.  'Lady Starlight' is on the UK version, but on the 'Give Us A Wink' North American.  Oy.

Oh, and to think that Queen would also release 'Sheer Heart Attack' later that year.

Quadrophenia, Side Four:  one of my Top Five nonQueen album sides of all time :tup

I am not quite old enough to think of albums in terms of "sides," though I do think of albums like Quadrophenia and The Wall in terms of "Discs." That said, it's not my take, but I can get behind your post. I might put Quadrophenia Disc 2 in my Top 10 Discs of all time, definitely Top 20. Pete just reached such an elite level with his songwriting in the period.

I really like Blood. I think it's my favorite of the OSI releases and Gavin Harrison was a great addition on that album.

Wow, checking this out on Bandcamp (for some reason, it's not streaming on Amazon despite being on Spotify), first song is pretty killer. More like aggressive technical thrash for me...like you say, the vocals are harsh, but not in the modern death metal way. Definitely some Vektor in there too, via Voivod. Coroner as well.

This sounds like it could be right in my wheelhouse...thanks for the rec!

Just listened to this.

This kind of blew my mind. Interesting collaboration. I had no idea Joe Elliot was a fan of Ghost but apparently they are fans of Def Leppard. Check out this video.

Yea aggressive technical thrash works. It has that crossover that more extreme thrash had with early death metal. I haven't gotten around to giving this a second spin yet but I certainly will soon.

Madonna is mostly a song artist for me, not an album one, but Ray of Light is her one album that is fantastic from start to finish.

One of my favorite albums of all time.

I take it that means it's also your favorite Thin Lizzy? It's perhaps more predictable, but I prefer the albums in the Fighting through Black Rose run...I haven't revisited Renegade in quite a while, though...
