Damn, I normally don't like my black metal to be this aggressive, but there's just so much energy here, the riffs are memorable, and there's enough slower and more melodic bits sprinkled throughout to keep things engaging. And the production doesn't suck!

Luke, if for whatever reason you've ever wanted to hear that style of microtonal guitar King Gizzard employs but over black metal, this is the album for you! :biggrin:

I’ll give it a shot. To be honest, King Gizz’s microtonal stuff is some of my least favourite Gizz, but I’ll spin it. Let’s hope it’s better than that Sadness/Abriction split :neverusethis:

The album wasn’t terrible but it was a bit of a slog. I checked out Sadness before, possibly recommended for fans of Deafheaven, but I could be wrong. I’ll queue this one up dude.

Yea it definitely wasn’t a write off, just a lot to digest. Plus, I just keep wanting to listen to the new Avenged Sevenfold, so every other 2023 release feels a little underwhelming at the moment.

Oh I've seen it, that's part of the morbid curiosity. :lol Kinda sounds like a Deconstruction or Empath-type album (he even used Devin Townsend as a negative comparison in there), so hey, maybe I'll actually like it!

I gave it like, 80% of a listen, my main reaction was "yup this definitely sounds like something Crow would love" :lol The guitar work on it was certainly interesting but maybe not my style - I like my RIFFS. But I might revisit it at some point.

Anyways, if you've heard Úpal guess I gotta send something else for your 2023 round. :P
