Bruce Springsteen - The River
I don't have this one (although I would say I'm a fan of Bruce, if not a diehard), always read it's a good album apparently.
Oh yes

It sure is. If you haven't heard it and you like The Boss, you should remedy that!

This is true, but that new album was absolutely atrocious.

I can't argue with that Kade. Its not a true Lizzy Borden album at all.

I kinda liked it but it just sounds unfinished. Most of the album sounds like early demo mixes. Which is a shame because I loved the production on appointment with death and this is a step back in nearly every area. I think I read he produced it himself......... and it sounds it.

I was really looking forward to it.  I thought Appointment with Death was really good and Deal with the Devil is such an underrated gem of an album.  This has to be one of my all time biggest disappointments.  I can't believe he was allowed to release this.  Surely one fucking person heard it beforehand and said to him, 'dude, this is absolute shite, you can't release this turd, WTF are you thinking?'  But, didn't seem so.

Finally gave this one a full listen and it's not bad. Musically it's what I'd expect from K.K & Ripper. Now I don't know who wrote the lyrics whether it be KK or Ripper but I can see why Halford writes pretty much all the songs for priest. Generic at best and cheesy at worst for me it really holds the album back.

Indeed.  Don't forget the one in the middle, Contingent.  Again, a really great album.

Yea, haven't explored much of their disco. Another band I stumbled upon on Spotify.

Not really my cup of tea either but I was really captivated by their live performances. Check out their live in studio session, it's captured their energy better than the album.

Yes, Disciples of the Sun is great. Legend of the Bone Carver is very good too. I haven’t heard the other ones yet…

A hodge podge of albums on my commute today...

(Above the Weeping World has one of my favorite Insomnium songs, Killjoy. It's so good, that one. And I always enjoy some Lovedrive  While this is already the sound of "new", post-Uli Jon Roth Scorpions, I always felt it's still transitional to some extent...and it's very cool because of that)

Also, a couple of newer ones:

I've already posted about After Lapse in the Frontiers' thread. It's an actual band, not one of their random projects  ;) Pretty good prog metal, not much in way of novelty, but I've been enjoying it. Thy Listless Heart is a one-man band from England...came out in November, I believe. It's atmospheric doom that's appropriately sad and morose. Some beautiful melodies in there, and at times the mood is almost "cinematic", especially in the instrumental interludes. Very good debut, imo.

Yep, those are two great songs too. Devoid of Caring starts out with more of a melodic death metal vibe...I hear some influence of (good) In Flames in the riffing...and then it finishes you off with that beautiful, melancholic coda...

Yeah, I love the two different sections, works so well and the transition is just really nice.  I can understand what you mean with the In Flames vibe too.

Pleasantly surprised with the new Anti-Flag album, probably their best in over a decade for me. Cramx3, chknptpie, you both heard this?

My vinyl copy of this just arrived. Fuck me, this album is just godly.
