...going along with Dragon Attack's Queen thread has been like taking a free class in Queen knowledge. Where else are you gonna find info like that?!

At home/on my phone, I've been spinning early Spock's Beard lately. On Monday, I started with The Light, yesterday was Beware Of Darkness, and today has been The Kindness Of Strangers.

In my car CD player, I've been going through The Tangent's early albums, starting with The Music That Died Alone the last couple of days, and then I popped in The World That We Drive Through this morning on my way to work.

Gotta christen the new thread with something...

This has some bangers towards the beginning but I'm not getting into it as much as All We Love We Leave Behind.

Yeah, but I'm amazed by how they can still release some amazing songs to this day, without changing their style substantially. Great band.

I bought these when they came out.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I bought these when they came out.

Eric Adams never gets mentioned when people talk about the best ever metal singers but for me he’s on the top table with Halford, Dickinson, Tate and DIO.

Technically his abilities were up there with the greats for sure but sadly no one took them seriously enough.

Exactly.  His downfall was the band he was in.  Amazing singer.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Deftones - Gore[/i

I'm about halfway through and so far it's kind of disappointing.

It's actually one of my favorite Deftones. Phantom Bride is just amazing.

It's not bad but I LOVED Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan so it's hard to judge on it's own merits. Funny enough Phantom Bride just finished playing as I type this post and it's easily my favorite track on the album.

I need to revisit Gore, but as I've gone through their discography, I felt it's their weakest one by far. I even enjoyed their self-titled and debut albums more ;D

"Prayers / Triangles" and "Hearts / Wires" are some of my absolute favorite Deftones songs.  Haven't heard the rest of the album in awhile though.

I wasn't aware of the background of this (being the bands final album and including recordings from deceased members) but it's really good.

He's great. Hail To England was one of the first metal albums I heard. Their prime days with Ross on guitar were something. Hilarious and mighty at the same time. Such wonderfully ridiculous bravado.

I meant to check out Soen's Atlantis for a bit after seeing it mentioned in the band's thread here, then I kind of forgot. Glad I finally did. Such tasteful renditions of many of their songs. Some of them are just perfect for a small string section...and the background vocals are great. Real nice.

Gloson's album is one I had seen recommended for post-metal this year. The genre is not totally in my wheelhouse, but I do occasionally enjoy some of it. This was very good, I actually spun it a few times this week. It's not like it's doing anything particularly new or groundbreaking, but I found it very engaging (which is not always the case for this kind of records) and it sounds great.

NoseofNicko, I need to revisit that one of these days. I went through a big Sigur Ros phase maybe 15 years ago and saw them once, but never think to listen to them anymore.  Seeing Untitled 8 live is something that cannot be explained, only experienced.
