I was talking the other night with my stepson, who is going through a divorce, and he made a comment about his soon-to-be-ex and her... let's call it "unpredictability", and I referred him to that scene.  Loretta doesn't want to marry Johnny, wants to be with Ronnie, but doesn't have the heart to tell Johnny, but when he breaks off the engagement, she's all put out!  "We had a RING!"  :) :) :) :)
