Holly shit, DA, that story about the accident is terrifying. It's unbelievable how a song sometimes lines up so terrifyingly.
There were many cars totalled (mine included), but only two broken ankles or legs. At least 'In My Time Of Dying' was only music, and not something actually experienced that dayl.
finally catching up.....
10 Black Dog #9 ‘One does not simply ‘Black Dog’ without ‘Rock And Roll’
though…
09 Rock and Roll #7 ….I can hear this one on its own.
Both are classic rocking tunes to start the classic album.
08 Dazed and Confused #5 I didn’t hear this until college, and man, did I ever hear it a lot then (and the following years). The perfect ‘indulging’ song.
07 The Rain Song NR not ranked doesn’t mean not enjoyable. Simply not a ‘must’ for me.
06 No Quarter #20 Yet this one is. Perhaps it is because I listened to Side Two more often.
05 When The Levee Breaks #18 John Henry Bonham.
Various highlights throughout, and then during the final section and seconds, you realize what a great album (or album side) experience you just had, whether indulging or not. Then it ends with those odd final notes.
*******
29 songs ranked of the 36 posted so far. I'll end up with 32. Not bad considering how under the weather I was when I filled this out, accounting for three oversights (brain farts).
I have enjoyed actually listening to each song as they've been posted, most of them multiple times, with only one being a bit of a struggle (unlike all the other countdowns.....).
