People I don’t expect on the list?

Most of them besides my top 4. Three of which are already there and I’m positive my number 3 will be there higher up.

But I don’t expect Sue Hutton, Matt Barlow, or Kobi Farhi.

Awesome! If you had Paul at number 1, total respect. I didn't rank him in my top 25 but he was heavily considered and deserves any love and praise he gets.

Yeah I get that but Einer's vocals are weak. On that criteria Geddy Lee should show up soon. I love Rush but Geddy's vocals are the weakest part of the band.
Einar's vocals....weak? Geddy Lee's voice weak? Get outta here!  :loser:

I love Geddy but Rush being so iconic, do YOU think his vocals are top 25?

Yes. He's been my idol since I was 6. He's the only human I would still, at my age, get starstruck over. TOTAL ICON!

I'll admit to a strong bias due to my love for Rush, but while his vocals were pretty rough around the edges in the early days, by the time the 80s rolled around and he (mostly) stopped the shrieking, he showed what a good singer he was.  His style was unique to say the least and certainly not for everyone, that is for sure.

I have loved Rush my entire life, all I was saying is his actual voice was not what sold me. The songwriting and musicianship blew me away, I grew to appreciate his vocals.

Well...aside from the Japanese singers who I can pretty much guarantee aren't on anyone else's list?

I'd say I got a good 5 or 6 that won't...off the top of my head Riley McShane of Allegaeon, Kobi Farhi of Orphaned Land, and Spencer Sotelo of Periphery aren't on anyone else's list.

I’ve seen Morrison and Bach mentioned, I had both.

Unlikely to be on anyone else’s list:

Frank Sinatra
Debby Harry

I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them...If I had thought it through a bit more, I probably would've had Debby on mine...she was my first crush in '78 after all.

16 Chris Cornell  NR  only after hearing Brian May on ‘New Damage’ did I give Soundgarden a serious listen.  After, I enjoyed enough of their material (and related) for two ‘best ofs’.  Btw…my wife is a huge JC Superstar fan of the movie and the soundtrack. She’s met Ted Neeley numerous times.  Pardon the pun, but she follows him religiously ;)  It took her many years of our annual listens to enjoy Ian Gillan on the studio version.  In our opinions, Chris Cornell had the range to have delivered a great performance as lead on it had the opportunity existed.

Ted Neeley
Donna Summer
Jim Morrison
Linda Ronstadt

You might have just moved to the top spot as to my wife's favorite posters on this forum :D
(or a very close 2nd)

Nice list.  I had Diana Ross, who was probably only on my list.

And, I did have three singers from one band (two of which were probably only on my list).

TAC.....I was looking for you in that picture!!!!!!!!!!
...going along with Dragon Attack's Queen thread has been like taking a free class in Queen knowledge. Where else are you gonna find info like that?!

I heard the 1970 JCS soundtrack long before seeing the 1973 film, but still associate Ted as Jesus*, so struggle with who has the defining Jesus voice. I almost put Murray Head on my list solely on the basis of "I shall be dragged through the slime and the, slime and the, SLIME AND THE MUD!"

Diana Ross was a consideration of mine as well.

*I read a great comment once that Ted played Jesus on stage longer than the actual Jesus was alive.

I have quite a few that I think no one else has.
The highest ranked of these is Krister Linder (at number 8.

I love his voice but with the little output and the I guess low input on the music scene.

The biggest hit he has had is probably Captain Nemo with Dive (during which time he went under the name Chris Lancelot)

Before we enter the top 10, here is a question for all submitters:

Who is the one singer you put in your top 25 that you were pretty confident wouldn't end up on anyone else's list?

Huey Lewis!

Have always loved his voice and remember it's 'FAVES' so go easy...  ;D

Actually had another 4 choices I doubt anyone else will have 3 of which am 99.9% certain won't have had any other votes ..

Many singers to list.  Lzzy Hale from Halestorm.  Chris Daughtry from Daughtry.  Among many others.

Alright, let's kick off the top 10!!

Last night's convo probably could have waited a day, given who's at number 10...:lol

10 Geddy Lee

Appeared on 12 of 36 lists
Highest Finish: 5 (KevShmev)
5 Top 10 Finishes

Yes, I had him ranked 5th. Rush has been my favorite band now for 31 years, so how could he not rank very high for me?  His vocals were a bit spastic in the early days, and his last few years were pretty rough, but his 1980-1993 years showed what a damn fine singer he was in his prime.

09 Ray Alder

Appeared on 10 of 36 lists
Highest Finish: 1 (pg1067, Tomislav95)
7 Top 10 Finishes

Fates Warning is one of those bands where I get the appeal, but they simply have never really grabbed me, outside of A Pleasant Shade of Gray.  Alder is a good singer for sure.

I didn't make a list, but if I had Bocelli would have been right at the top.

I love Rush but would not have considered Geddy for my list.

Ray is great, and he’s improved over the last 10 years after noticeably declining the previous 10.

I like Rush's music  but not their vocal. To be honest Geddy Lee is the reason I lost interest in Rush over the years. I still think Rush is an iconic band for the music industry but vocals are huge handicap for me to fully appreciate.

Ray Alder is an awesome singer and he would make top 50 list for me.

Both singer are not my top 25.

Both just missed my cut. I did have Alder in the top 25 on my first draft, but then he got bumped with some other names I’d omitted initially. Both are understandable as to why they’re here though.
