Geek USA - Smashing Pumpkins, some of Jimmy's best.

Behind the Lines - Genesis, the opening section is just so good, and the drum sound is so lively.

Deliverance - Opeth, love the outro section.

Praise the Lord (Opium of the Masses) - Dying Fetus, the intro groove is so tasty.

So many, but these immediately came to mind.

Saw this before but don’t think it was shared here. Really fun video, and Gregg is a lot of fun to watch.

I agree.  I have always loved this song.  Great, simple main riff that crushes!

The fills in Blackened and Frayed Ends of Sanity are my favorite drum fills.

I love Gregg, he's always so joyful in whatever he talks about. Big inspiration!

I love Vinnie's laidback groove on Oz Noy's Chocolate Souffle, that riff in the verse just destroys my brain but Vinnie just keeps everyone grounded.

Not many players have the feel that Ivar de Graaf does.  And what a snare sound.

I don’t know what exactly Vinnie Colaiuta is doing here that sounds so cool, but I love how the groove pushes and pulls throughout the track. I assume the time signature is shifting, but maybe somebody with more musical expertise can comment.

The piece is comprised of two sections (basically): The verses (which are the same as the intro and outro) are in 7/8 and the choruses are in 4/4, no pushing or pulling here, since clicks were used. Brilliant piece though (and a brilliant album, one of my very favourites by Sting, thanks in no small part to Vinnie. One of my heroes.) He does an override pattern here (meaning, he takes a pattern, the ride cymbal pattern in this case, and he smoothes out the time as it were, so it's palatable for everyone.

It’s probably just that 7/8 with the override that’s making it sound irregular to me. The drumming really makes the song.

The override is supposed to make the odd time signature easier to digest for the average listener. 7/8 is irregular by nature, but Vinnie makes it palatable for everyone. (danceable even)
