I'm not sure which show(s) yet, but I'll absolutely be seeing Riverside.  They're such a great live band.

Lonestar, not that I'm necessarily going to do it right now, but what would be an album or couple songs even that you'd recommend checking out first from Nemophila?

At the moment, they have on album, Revive, and a collection of early sognles, Oiran. There is some crossover, but their whole discography is about 25 songs.

Best songs for me are Life, Oiran, Revive, Rollin Rollin, Change the World, and Sorai

And just as I finished typing that, Eluvitie announced a tour with Seven Spires opening, in Sacramento and completely skipping sf.

Spiritbox tickets went fucking fast... If any of you are interested, get them now. Aftermarket is already over 200 here.

Got tickets for both NYC nights, I may sell the second night though. I knew they had two NYC dates when the band announced one and the venue announced the other yet neither fixed it, but I scooped up a GA ticket for night 2 and then when night 1 went on sale I guess no one noticed so I got a balcony ticket for pretty cheap (before the prices rose, because that ticket was twice as much when I went to buy for night 2).

Pretty cool to see them do so well though.  Both Spiritbox and Bad Omens were openers for Underoath earlier this year and now both are selling out their own headline tours. This metalcore genre is really doing well.

I'm very happy it's doing well, they certainly deserve it, just thought I at least had till the weekend to get tickets for a GA show. :dunno:

I'll be trying to get Def Leppard / Motley Crue tickets for AC in February.  Small arena show, seems like a warm up before they do the world stadium tour.  I would really like to be there, seems like it would be John 5's first show with Motley Crue too.  Wish I had a citi credit card so I could buy the ticket now and not have to fight for one tomorrow during the live nation presale.

Updated list and I actually have a ticket to all but 3 of these so my wallet is already hurting for 2023  :lol (including snagging an insanely price Motley Crue/Def Leppard ticket this morning)

January 31st - Anthrax, Black Label Society & Exodus @ Wellmont Theater, Montclair NJ
February 2nd - Alter Bridge & Mammoth WVH @ Wellmont Theater, Montclair NJ
February 10th - Def Leppard & Motley Crue @ Etess Arena, Atlantic City NJ
February 11th - Parkway Drive & Memphis May Fire @ Starland Ballroom, Sayreville NJ
February 23rd - Powerwolf @ Palladium Times Square, New York City NY
March 17th - Muse & Evanescence @ Madison Square Garden, New York City NY
March 20th - Nemophila @ Gramercy Theater, New York City NY
April 1st - Polyphia @ Starland Ballroom, Sayreville NJ
April 28th - Breaking Benjamin, Falling In Reverse, The Pretty Reckless, Beartooth, Dorothy @ Prudential Center, Newark NJ
April 30th - Spiritbox, After the Burial & Intervals @ Irving Plaza, New York City NY
May 8th - VV @ Irving Plaza, New York City NY
August 4th - Metallica, Pantera, & Mammoth WVH @ Metlife Stadium, East Rutherford NJ
August 6th - Metallica, Five Finger Death Punch, & Ice Nine Kills @ Metlife Stadium, East Rutherford NJ
September 3rd - Foreigner & Loverboy @ PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel NJ
September 7th - Beast in Black, VOLA, Halo Effect… Day 2 Progpower @ Center Stage, Atlanta GA
September 8th - Kamelot, Caligula’s Horse, Green Carnation…Day 3 Progpower @ Center Stage, Atlanta GA
September 9th - Myrath, Unleash the Archers, Delain… Day 4 Progpower @ Center Stage, Atlanta GA

I've also sadly decided I'm not likely going to Day 1 of Progpower this year.  It's just too expensive to add another hotel night for a show that I don't even care for the bands this time around.  The last two PP day 1's have been duds and had lead to me spending more time socializing than watching the bands.

Pentatonix - The World Tour

Roger Waters - This is not a Drill

Probably also going to the Dutch version of Les Miserables (musical).

That is great to hear!  ;D I am looking forward to it very much. I have played a lot of FF games over like 25 years, so the whole concept of 35 years of FF will be a journey I am sure (with each mainline game represented and it mostly being played chronologically).

Now this version of When We Were Young festival for 2023 is the stuff that gets me intrigued, even if the sets are going to be condensed.  Green Day, Blink 182, Rise Against, Sum 41, The Offspring, 30 Seconds to Mars, 5 Seconds of Summer, and lots more.  I don't know if I want to make the trip to Vegas for this, but it's an option.

and now we have the nu metal version

I think these line ups really nail the target audience, I just really struggle with the 60 bands in one day. Plus if the weather holds up given the first day of When We Were Young was cancelled an hour before doors opened due to high winds.

Anyway, I think I'll probably go to this local radio festival

A lot of bands I'd like to see there.

Well, still no additional shows for this year beyond the three Alter Bridge shows I'm going to in Toronto, Anaheim, and Highland.

I may think about seeing Bush at the Palladium depending on price.

I see that Nothing More has a tour announced.  LA show is in the Belasco.  I may go to that one depending on the price.  Probably not get as close to the front this time around.  Last time, I saw them at the Belasco, the body took a pounding with all of the pushing and energy of the crowd.  I don't want to go through that again.  The band always brings great energy though.

Went to my first show in 2023 last weekend! It wasn't even on my list, but I was free last friday night and the show was local so figured why not?  This was a metalcore/death metal show.  There were a few local NJ bands opening things up that I missed, but got there in time to see Nora who I really wasnt into.  The songs just didn't seem to go anywhere.  Meh.

Next up was Bleeding Through.  This is where the show got really really wild.  I mean, the singer starts by saying "I want violence" and boy did he get it.  The mosh pit was similar to what I come across on social media these days with the dudes swinging their arms like crazy and doing jump kicks.  It's really fun to watch this type of pit, but not so much fun being right on the side of the pit.  Luckily for me, there was a guy in a wheel chair next to me who basically protected me.  Since anytime a guy swinging his arms came near, he would see the guy in the wheel chair and stop.  But this guy in the wheel chair was also going wild.  He got that wheel chair to bounce whenever the singer would say jump.  His arms was out pushing people.  Guy was amazing really.  Anyway, back to the violence, I think I counted 5 people get kicked out.  While I didn't see what caused these people to get out, I did see all of them fighting hard against security including one guy being choked out and dragged.  That that person got dragged out which meant a few guards had to help, a big fight broke out in the pit which took a few minutes before more security could come.  It was just a really violent and kind of dangerous pit for this set.  I don't think I've ever seen security so active during a set before.  I also thought the band was pretty good, very aggressive and heavy music, but had a bit of a melodic part to it that was nice and I found them pretty enjoyable when I was able to focus on them and not the pit in front of me.

The headliner was God Forbid who, also from NJ, had broken up like 12 years ago and were doing a few reunion shows.  I thought they were OK.  Some good songs, but maybe not really my style.  The crowd was pretty good for them, but I moved back and away from the pit.  It definitely didn't seem as crazy from afar, but it was an active crowd for them.  This show went pretty late.  I ended up leaving at 11:45 and they didn't even go into the encore yet (apparently they did 3 more songs).   Also, the show was $30 flat at the door and got a ticket stub.  Honestly can't complain to see a concert for that price these days.  I was very glad I showed up.

God Forbid, Bleeding Through, & Nora LIVE @ Starland Ballroom NJ 1/6/23

Here's the latest for the rest of my tentative concert schedule, but honestly, I'm starting to think I may not attend the next two shows coming up at Wellmont, but it's going to feel like a long 3 weeks before the next show for me and even longer if I don't go to that one.

February 2nd - Alter Bridge & Mammoth WVH @ Wellmont Theater, Montclair NJ

If I had been at that show, I would have been looking to move to the balcony or behind the soundboard or anything to not be anywhere near a pit like that.

If I had been at that show, I would have been looking to move to the balcony or behind the soundboard or anything to not be anywhere near a pit like that.

Like I mentioned, I felt fairly safe being next to the wheel chair guy, but about 3/4s into their set I moved back and didn't come close to getting into the pit again. It really wasn't my thing to be apart of, but it was pretty entertaining.

Honestly, the only reason I even got that close was because the pit was so large that it was pushing the rest of the crowd to the far edges of the venue where the site lines suck.  So between bands when like 100 people left to smoke outside and the pit area was empty, I said fuck it I'm going to get up close for the band.
